it resonates through my inner being

i get good feelings about things.

first it was the interior designer. once i stepped into the booth, it just felt right. then when this really young chap introduced himself as the designer, my head was like, 'he's too young! not enough experience!' etc, but my heart felt good about it.

one week later, we discover that his work has been featured in home and decor (he was also the same person who did up the ID booth we were in. on both counts, i was very impressed). and not only that, this fresh poly grad looking kid... is a senior consultant. O_O

(we're not confirming him yet though. although we like him, we need to be prudent and get the most value out of our budget.)

and now, the photographer. i love his work. i just can't find anyone else in singapore who can do what he does. i'm just praying he's not too expensive.

interior design part 2

i was trying to arrange what decor and design would be nice for the house and what we could possibly drop from the recommended list (by our awesome... and expensive designer) when i slowly started to account for furniture and electronics and other costs...

and out came my trusty excel. when my excel file comes out, you know i'm getting down to business. heh heh.

---

the thing that's killing me is that i have no idea what theme i want to go for. i think i hate white, but then i see a white based scheme that looks like it might work... and then the next moment i want really unique colors like dark blue... or a whole ton of wallpaper...

help! i really need master advice man.

the smooth criminal

the day before michael jackson died my player shuffled up 'Do You Remember The Time?'.

instead of skipping it like i always do, i paused just before my index finger pressed on 'next' and listened the entire song through.

i reminisced about how wonderful the MTV was; it was the first ever MTV i'd ever watched in my life (i was primary 4, working on a school project at xiaohui's place... yes the same xiaohui we all know). watching MJ spin into dust was just marvellous, how i kept trying to catch the MTV on channel 5 thereafter, just to watch him dance over and over.

i reflected on that primary 4 moment, smiling indulgently to myself as i strode into the basement carpark of my office building.

the next day, i woke up with 'Blood on the Dance Floor' on repeat in my head as i brushed my teeth... i was pretty bewildered, but knowing how my brain just short-circuits sometimes i decided to leave it on repeat...

until i got off the bus i was taking to the mrt station. my eyes glanced past the TV mobile set.

headline: Michael Jackson has died.

the record in my head stopped as i reeled in shock. what about his tour? why? i was just appreciating his music, his dance moves, yesterday...

he died on Thursday.

but only on the following Sunday did i show how much of a loss this meant to me, and only in front of alvin while i cried and grieved as we watched MTV's making of 'Do You Remember The Time?'.

pete, you are not alone.

please, only you can prevent genuine horror.

ok there's this amazing t-shirt meant for the latest Resident Evil promo. it's such a brainwave man. seriously. just take a look at this:

featured on Neatorama.

then i was looking through alvin's tweet updates and he mentioned the shirt would be great for halloween.

i turned around and said (he was sitting right behind me), 'fantastic idea dear! except when u flip up your shirt you might scare the kids with er, your belly instead, you know? haha.'

(eh, it's ok coz alvin laughed really hard at that as well.)

that was late morning.

a few minutes ago, alvin discovered this:

featured on Crispy Gamer.
(go to the link!!! i would put it here but the best effect is going to the link and seeing it in full size!!)

i LOL-ed so hard in front of my computer that it
hurt. this is one of the few times when i can actually type LOL and mean it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

my cell group

it's smaller, but we're still good together. :D

the last cell group was great despite all the rice shooting out from my mouth and nel's excitement over what could be nothing at all (rice shot out from her mouth too). not forgetting the $5000 faux pas, indian ochra and...

while we were laughing our heads off over the two eavesdropping guys outside the melville park games room, i couldn't resist but whip out my camera.

The Long Fall Back to Earth

Safe to Land, Jars of Clay

Getting tired from all this circling
Not much grace left on a broken wing
I feel the wind trying to push me down
It happens every time I get to town

I search for shelter near the mines we swept
I guess forgiveness hasn't happened yet
There are no words that I can say to you
That turn this careless sky from black to blue
So I'm asking you is it safe?

Is it safe to land?

Coz I'm not going far on an empty heart
Is it safe?
Is it safe to land?
It's the long fall back to earth is the hardest part

I'm in no weather for apologies
I need your runway lights to burn for me
And if you say that I can come around
I'll love you right, yea I won't let you down, I won't let you down
Coz I'm coming home, if these wheels touch down

I'm coming home
I'm waking you up in the middle of the night
I'm not giving up

I'm gonna stay ‘til we make it work
We're not going down even if it gets worse
We'll work it out
Yeah we'll work it out

I need your light to guide me in
Oh...
Yeah, is it safe?

i... can't... help... it....

you know how i'm not really supposed to think much about getting married before MPC is over?

*pushes it to the back of my mind* i want to start researching on dresses and themes. it's just research! like how i'm researching on good hotels with both ambience, food... and uh, a really good price. :D

HAHA!

look, i can
so imagine tricia in this with ribbons weaved into her hair:

oh and alvin's newborn niece!!! she'll be exactly one year old if we plan for a july wedding. hoho so cute, wearing the same dress except tinier. she'd be so cute!!! a big fluff in mommy's arms.

awwwwww... =)

wah cannot take it, i'm getting more and more excited.

and also i love layered skirts. as much as i love slim dresses... i want a poofy skirt more.

oh, so much more... :D~~

and i'm partial to the colour blue!!! i dig navy but i fear it's not romantic enough. it's classy though.

classy or romantic?

hmm...

company retreat

i'm not really sure what was going on except that there were waayyyy too many presentations for me to process. so i drifted in and out of sleep and perked up for dinner at Equinox!

the view was great but would've been breathtaking if not for the VERY DIRTY glass windows.

more birthday celebrations

the saturday after my birthday i met up with my very reluctant girls for some KTV after gobbling down a huge miso salad at CPK.

DSCF9952

seriously, i just love all of you for coming... rolling your eyes and all. haha! I KNOW IT'S A SACRIFICE FOR YOU GUYS OK, I KNOW!

so angel's the old soul (my gosh the oldies that she kept getting), mel's the techno queen (we actually perked up and started doing our JC techno moves. hilarious!!!), and xinwei's the ultimate britney fan, which made angel want to tear her ears out.

me and xinwei:
"All aboard!"
"Britney, before you go, there's something I want you to have."
"Oh, it's beautiful! But wait a minute, isn't this... ?"
"Yeah, yes, it is."
"But I thought the old lady dropped it into the ocean in the end..."
"Well, baby, I went down and got it for ya."
"Aw, you shouldn't have."

angel: ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

heh heh heh.

here're my girlies!

DSCF9959

after 3 straight hours of singing we were all pooped. so they presented me with something.

me: a present? for meeeeeee??? OMGAHHHH! XD

frenzied week

alvin was so busy the week before! the poor boy had my birthday to juggle, come with me to meet david and jade, a 5 day conference where he presented and the weekend company retreat where he had a poster to present.

so yes it was a pretty crazy period (monday to sunday, no breaks), and all i could do was to help taichi work away from him and do the rest while he was at his conference.

i am so proud of you, dear.

DSCF9977

DSCF9978

after the conference (before we met javid, HAHA!) we went to canele for a banana sweet crepe. YUM.

here's alvin all relaxed, since he's posing and all:

i'm not as tired as alvin, but strung out all the same:

my long awaited birthday dinner date will be happening tomorrow. huzzah! :)

the first time.

somehow circumstances made alvin and i combine our cell groups today... for the first time ever!

my lesson was how to have a heart for God and i had a low attendance so i invited alvin and his cell to join us so we could make up a good number. i also felt that the lesson plan could be applicable; forgot to ask alvin what he'd planned to talk to them about actually. hehe. i found out later.

so we got together in the room and did awkwardness away with a game of heart attack! i looked around the room and saw the same kids that were here in my first day at melville... jonathan, ryan, melissa, ashley and natalie - fast forwarded 4 years and here they all are, grown up.
that really made me smile.

and my word, it was a great session!

again, i felt God guiding my thoughts and my words; worship was sung beautifully (i really ought to get my guitar skills going) and when we got to word, my heart was absolutely bursting with happiness and pride when everyone opened up and shared. a little shy still, but it's a huge start.

having alvin there calmed my nerves... he's really good at plugging my sentences and thoughts! when i'd finished the lesson, he mentioned another dimension to what i was saying... which was actually something i'd forgotten to mention. he didn't know that of course.

also, at the end of cell (my girls and his boys both thought it was a positive change! yay thank God for none of that awkwardness) alvin told me his original plan was actually to teach his boys about community. what better than to have a practical example... joining another cell group for cell? :D

i love how it all worked out!
and i really dig how we work together. it's pretty amazing, because ever since i accepted his proposal it seems as if my life stopped teetering off kilter and settled down with a nice whoosh. i'm just a whole lot happier as a person and my relationship with alvin seems sealed and contentment is all around. i'm really bad at explaining this.

we will be cell grouping for the next two months i think. Lord, this is all yours!!

i took leave

i took leave today to meet jade and david for a bit. so we went to rasa sentosa with the rest of the tan family to check out a possible banquet location! :)

DSCF9985

i have no idea why jobyna said that rates nowadays were all $1200 per table and above. she is very misinformed and made me panic for no reason. -_-"'

DSCF0005

DSCF0009

DSCF0011

anyway! rasa sentosa's gorgeous! we were taken around to check out different ballrooms and their set-up, and the outdoor wedding location is SO PRETTY. with white picket fences and...

DSCF9996

*slaps jade's arm excitedly*

DSCF0003

"JADE, THEY HAVE THE LAMPS!!!"

"I KNOW!!! *glee*"

seriously, we have pretty much the same idea for an outdoor wedding... so much so that it's a little creepy but we counter that by squealing and going 'OMG!!! YOU TOO??!?!'.

OH OH. at one point of the meeting the floor manager, ricky, gave a wedding package brochure to me. eyeing that he had extra copies i asked for one more... for... my... *shy*...

husband-to-be.

heehee.

i burst out laughing in glee once i said that. woohoo!!! this feels great, yeah! :D

DSCF0013

---

after all the morning excitement, the tans (and jade) had a lunch appointment so i went to carl's junior to settle my tummy. it actually felt really good to be so relaxed, on leave, watching people and eating slowly and leisurely. mmm waffle fries... *salivate*

i was enjoying myself so much that at certain points i think i smiled to myself. i also called alvin to tell him about the husband-to-be story. heehee.

*contented*

---

after lunch i met jade again, together with mikey for abit before he split to cathay and we headed down to chinatown. we needed belts, but no suitable buckle, and a sash, but no time to tailor... so... we got one ream of ribbon. kewl.

then we got lost trying to find the CK dept store. it was hilarious (kept making u-turns and crossing the road very unnecessarily) and i'm so glad jade was such a sport about it. when we FINALLY managed to find CK and the traditional-chinese-wares shop behind it... we were pooped. so we er, escaped to the nearest macs... OH WAIT TRADITIONAL DESSERT!

we didn't have traditional dessert though. we had one mango shaved ice and one mango pomelo sago, and a really long conversation. i think this is the first time... no, second time i've actually spoken to jade face to face. and since the first time i was still trying to get over the australian accent, i would say that this second conversation was a whole lot more comfortable. (and i had no australian accent... i hope i can blog about this australian accent incident soon).

when it was time to go i had to set my alarm to tell myself to stop talking, and get moving. as jade left I WAS SO SAD!!! AFTER THIS IT'S BACK TO "HELLO JADE!" ON MSN! :(

le sigh.

and then transformers 2 was the worst film i've watched in 3 years (because i can't really remember the shows i watched 4 years ago and further). oh my goodness. that's not even a plot. why are the jokes so... limp? WHY ARE THERE EVEN ACTORS??!?! THEY ARE USELESS. THE PLOT DOESN'T NEED THEM, THEY UTTER STUPID NONSENSICAL WORDS AND omg too many scenes of megan fox in various poses. FOR WHAT?

FOR WHAT??!?!?!

i wanted to leave the theatre everytime sam and i-dunno-how-to-spell-her-name-la were being all smouldery and stupid bantering about who should say i love u first.

go and die la.

UGH. SO ANGRY. WASTED MY TIME. GAH!!! even the transformers were stupid. starscream had an accuracy of zilch (HELLO THEY ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU SHOOT THEM U IDIOT WHERE ARE YOUR EYES - YOU HAVE NO EYES), weird transformers were introduced out of nowhere... after awhile i stopped caring. why? why bother to ask 'eh how did they get here? how did they... wait, what???'

why bother.

the best part for me was when i witnessed a goat leaping off a high wall. i sat up straight, pointed at the screen and gasped, 'WOW.' then the scene changed over to the rest of the movie and i slumped right back.

alvin's favourite scene was when a chicken attacked one of the soldiers.

he was asleep the rest of the time.

the amount of after-movie bitching from the 4 geeks i was with... they had a field day man. i just stormed off to the toilet and got mildly frightened by the auto hand-dryer coz it turned on right next to me while i was fuming/stoning about wasting almost 3 hours of my life. and as i was walking to the loo, alvin shouted, 'wait no, this is not the worst show i've seen in a year... TWILIGHT WAS WORSE!!!'

all in all it was still a very good day. well-spent with people whom i love. :)
