Yeah Yeah Yeahs at The Esplanade, 12th Jan
the setlist can be found here.
once they strode onto the stage everyone stood up and the 2 rows in front of us cleared out to run to the front. there was no way we could get to a sweet spot right in front so alvin and i threw our bags into those recently cleared rows and climbed over. heh heh.
our view was right smack in the centre. good stuff.
the yeah yeah yeahs were, without a doubt, FANTASTIC. but the crowd? not so much. i'm looking at you, uncle standing right in front of karen O and just... standing there. -_-
i was initially pretty perplexed by the lifeless crowd - everyone seemed to be content just standing there and staring. no clapping, swinging of hips, raising of arms. did they not know the songs? or were they not getting the atmosphere? *scratches head* but okay, it got better halfway through the concert...
maybe everyone was equally mesmerized by karen O, who was like a huge butterfly on drugs... but with kick ass vocals. o_O
alvin's flickr set here.
i danced almost all the way. jumped and crashed into alvin while he took precious videos for our leisurely viewing later. i know that's not easy dear! <3
Black Tongue/Pin/Dull Life
Heads Will Roll
Maps (acoustic, which was really nice)
Turn Into
and my absolute favorite, Date With the Night
the night was over too soon! :(
and interestingly enough, although i love the yyys for their frenzied tunes, it was the slower songs that really resounded in me long after we left...
NEXT UP, GREEN DAY!! that one's a comedy of errors. *shakes head*
