from a mess to the masses

this children's choir is fantastic! they did Lisztomania so well!

i still remember raising my eyebrows the first time i heard Phoenix performing Lisztomania on SNL last year. i poked alvin immediately and asked him to get a copy so we could check them out.

we got their album the same time we received Yeah Yeah Yeah's 'Fever To Tell' which sat better with me the first few listens. so i stopped listening to Phoenix and was pretty immersed in the YYYs for quite some time. but alvin totally loved 'Wolfgang Amadeus' and did not love Fever To Tell at all. he was as confused at Karen O's yelling just as much as i was confused by Phoenix's beats and tunes that ran all over the place.

for a few months we'd be going to church and he'd be humming a track from Phoenix... even after we leave church, the same tune is stuck on his lips. each time i turn to him and ask, 'is it really that nice??!?!'

'YAR. I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT. YOU HAVE TO TAKE ANOTHER LISTEN.'

after a really long time, i finally did. alvin was right (as always). by the end of 2009 we loved the album so much we declared it album of the year. haha. and now they've won a Grammy!

i really hope they come. *crosses fingers*

been wanting to write this down for awhile now, but put it off for around 3 months now. sometimes a bit shy to share la... teehee.

also, because i took a listen to Wolfgang Amadeus again, alvin decided to give Fever To Tell another chance. i think he's okay with it now... i remember him saying, 'it just takes awhile.'

Lisztomania is super fun on rock band! i can finally play it on Hard... T_T
