Menya Shinchan
shortly after alvin and i returned from Japan, i developed really strong cravings for tsukemen.
famous last words: 'it's not available here one la. confirm! *sobs*'
but while going through the ramen-withdrawal phase, i started to google for good ramen in singapore and i stumbled upon menya shinchan (robertson walk). specialities - sinjiro ramen (it's HUGE. see below.) and...
TSUKEMEN!!!!!!!!!!! XD
here're the pictures from our first visit:
tsukementsukementsukemen...
ALVIN'S SINJIRO WHICH HAS ANOTHER BOWL FULL OF VEGGIE AS TOPPING!!!
ooh, gyoza! odd that we didn't have gyoza in japan.
my tsukemen!!! the noodles were so al dente i had another serving. that's right - 2 servings of noodles.
alvin finished everything. wow.
---
the food reminded me so much of tokyo's tsukemen that i started having cravings for menya shinchan instead... and promptly dragged hanbin and josh along for the second outing.
the boys.
hanbin gets over adventurous and gets the sinjiro. look at his appalled face... he has a smaller appetite than i do.
he's resigned:
by the time hanbin was done with his veggie, he was full. then he started to give away noodles. -___-
joshua's sniffing his miso pork bone soup (thick) up:
alvin went for the black soup this time - sesame miso, which was surprisingly light!
once again, my tsukemen... except that i have an extra bowl of hot bubbling miso soup. what to do? order another serving of noodles again la! wheee.
miso soup in hotpot:
after all that rich soup, we stumbled back to liang court for some haato! alvin and i did that the last time we went to menya shinchan as well... we were hoping to check meidi-ya if they brought in any hokkaido ice cream. but don't have!! we settled for haato instead, and the last time i had some sweet potato and honey and chestnut(??) ice cream. it tasted exactly like sweet potato and chestnut... but texture was like mashed potato. VERY INTERESTING THOUGH.
alvin had the yuzu sorbet the last time, and WOW IT'S SO GOOD that me and josh went for it too! :D
jiapjiapjiap
me: OOH STATUE OF LIBERTY!
alvin: must go higher! LIKE THAT!
fine! (see what i'm clutching on to, hehehe)
