i love them white tigers
i was supposed to blog this a month ago, when us girls just decided we needed to relive our childhood. since mel (a teacher now, and a superb one at that) had a class excursion to the science centre, we canned our journey to Jurong and went to the zoo instead! :D
there were moments in mel's car where we were frantically calling everyone and anyone asking, 'hey which expressway/exit to the zoo ar?'... but based on mel's instincts (and thank goodness, her refusal to listen to me and my lousy directional instincts)...
WE MADE IT!!!
behold... pictures to archive our trip!
---
first up: mel and xinwei planning our journey so we won't overlap/die walking around the zoo.
mel is practicing her directions and map-reading.
our first exhibit: the proboscis monkeys!
aww little heart-shaped pile of otters. i love their tiny ears. *puddle*
the big bad (bleary-eyed) wolf.
llamas!
the swimming polar bear that made my day; i have loads more pictures but i decided not to bore you with them. i have a video too. so. very. hypnotic.
height comparisons (not so much with the polar bear, but more for proof of my 10 year old fact that I AM TALLER THAN MEL. i so totally am.)
ok when i reached the rhino exhibit, this rhino stepped out of the shade, and preened with one foot in the sun... and posed like that until i put my camera down. amazing. rhinos can be vain too.
ah from this point onwards, xinwei and mel had to drag me away by making impatient noises or just leaving me at the enclosure... BECAUSE WE'VE COME TO THE LARGE CATS EXHIBIT!!! YAYAYAYAYAYYYY!!!
i was excitedly looking around for cheetahs and i got all excited pointing out one which was hiding (sleeping) in the foliage when xinwei drily pointed out: there's one right in front of you la.
!!!
T_T so pretty...
food for teh cats. haha, kidding only. :)
meerkats! this is such a classic national geographic pose.
(eh seth, you can take this picture if you wanna. i still have somemore with me. let me know if you want them.)
the antelope giraffe?
now for the lions. we ran to the exhibit upon hearing roaring *shudder* but nah, the lion was just snarling at the lioness for goodness knows what reason. from where we were standing we could hardly see anything, so we moved to another spot... and the lions came!! see, see:
there're 2 lionesses and one lion. the lion walked away to some other area, but the lionesses BOTH came, and one sat in the light and posed for us. the professional photographers were DELIGHTED. as was i. :D:D:D
JAGUARRRRR (or puma? or leopard? i need to ask xinwei, she's the expert in identifying their spots)
ok this is mel's favourite section: SNAAAAAAAAAKE
there was one python that did a harry potter thing that freaked me out. it was coming towards the glass panel where my face was, so i lifted my camera to start filming. then it came closer. and closer. and closer.
then it staaaaaaaaaaared. i was really hoping the glass wouldn't suddenly vanish. *gulp*
then after the longest time, it turned away and slowwly slithered away.
*shudder*
the giant tortoise experience! i was telling the girls how alvin saw two such tortoises doing the bedroom jive out in the open african savannah. it was LOUD. and very disturbing.
little critters: squirrels!
the leopard cat which was so CUTE.
ARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH. yeah they just sat there like that, mouth open and all. probably cleaning their teeth using the UV rays. *shrug*
DO U SEE DA BABY???
mr colourful face and ass.
wah these monkeys were SO ACTIVE. love them.
after this we went into this small enclosure for butterflies (eeks + shudders all over) and various animals. i love this enclosure hahahaha, best experience with the girls ever coz it was so funny.
once we walked in, i was nervously looking for butterflies. GODD GRIEF THEY'RE HUGE. i turn around and there was one right behind flying INTO MY FACE argh ARGHHHHHH!!!!
i let loose a scream, then clamped my mouth and whimpered coz
1. i did NOT intend to eat a butterfly
2. of the other poor animals freaked out by me
xinwei smacked me and laughed, then when we reached a butterfly catchment area she kept trying to scare me by stroking my arm or scratching my neck with a finger. T_T
she kept doing that and i kept wailing at her to stop while mel just laughed at us... when she suddenly stopped and screamed. i was already in pieces after that butterfly in face episode so i started yelling 'WHAT? WHAT???', and i think we were so loud that xinwei got spooked too so she let loose and shouted 'WTF??? WTF??!?!?! WTF!!'
a mousedeer ran past. it was the size of my HEAD.
oh my goodness... MEL!!!! what the heck man???! (but xinwei continued screaming as the mousedeer ran past. i think she doesn't really like animals coming too close. hehehe.) the tourists behind us totally gave us a 'they're such bimbos' look. sigh.
i like to move it, move it.
you like to move it, move it.
we like to move it, move it.
i like to...
MOVE IT!!
*ali G yo~~*
i touched its butt!!! these lemurs were so friendly. :D
*Lion king music cues*
it's feeding time!!
alright enough walking. it's tram time.
ah meng's family.

i forgot what these are, but they were hugging really hard. by the time my camera came out they were over the hug. :(
ARGH OTTER SO CUTE ARGH!!!

sigh, they're PREDATORS. and that man was apparently suicidal. :(
well, anyway, here are the tigers in their magnificent glory.
