Day 2: (Tokyo) Disneyland Part II
the next part of the day was waiting for my first ever Disney parade to start. AND WOW YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEIR PARADES MAN! IT'S SO COLORFUL AND LOVELY!! the lengths they go to make everything gorgeous... T_T
You know, I totally can't be bothered with parades in general... Not even when my Church was associated with a float for Chingay... I just don't watch parades. But this is something different. Magic, indeed.
here're the children sitting near us. we call most of them 'beached whales' coz they're so chubby. chubbyyyy...
the pretty pram:
This kid was teaching his dad the fine art using an umbrella as a deadly implement of super-funtimes!
Gotta make sure you don't drop anything on yourself.
His royal highness waving to his adoring fans.
see how orderly everyone is sitting by the path? no standing allowed... and everyone listens obediently to the minder! amazing!
and the parade begins! i filmed everything down and will load them on youtube when i have the time, heh.
here're the highlights!
the dancers are really really professional and FUN. they always stop and pose for a split second before they move off again. YAY!
This is a beautiful pose.
This... is less beautiful, haha!
the pinocchio float was blowing out bubbles!! :D
I think boo's on the truck somewhere... I always miss boo, even at night.
aww don't be sad dear. *pats head*
here comes buzz lightyear!
end of the day parade:
everytime we walk past the castle, we take a picture. :D
i love the ducks that roam freely in Disneyland. they're sweet.
and towards the flume ride!!
chuuling sat in the flume ride with us and i'm so proud of her! coz she hates the falling feeling but she went in with us anyways. :D AND SAT RIGHT IN THE FRONT WITH ME! :O
there were signs in the flume that kept pointing towards the 'happy place'. the happy place was a few feet below us and made us wet!!
all of us took a bite out of mickey's ears first. teehee.
the monsters inc ride. the queue was supposedly 1.5 hours long WHICH WAS A BREEZE! coz japanese people are all so cheerful and there were hardly any screaming children and there were countless scenes to take pictures of and entertain yourselves with (my attention was consumed by a huge tv that played different scenes from monsters inc).

This is what I was mentioning in Disneyland Part I - How the ride so bright and cheery suddenly and very swiftly descends into violence - cartoon violence, but with the Happy Place in actuality being the "worst" part of the ride... They have a very warped sense of humour. I like! (that is, when it's not too unsettling.)
after the flume we found the pushcart selling the biscuit ice cream. yummy.
KLONDLIKE!!!!!

I think they always overestimate the timing so no one's really disappointed, heh.
after all that jazz of this being the latest ride in Disneyland, it wasn't really as great as we'd expected. oh well. on to the oldest ride in Disney!!

I think it was a great ride, I enjoyed the animatronics and the feel of it all, and the whole hunting aspect of it, trying to take in everything that was moving.... there was too much detail, it got overwhelming. That being said, we expected the torchlights to be some shooting thing, or for it to activate certain things, but they're actually just useless. You're better off just watching the display as it passes by.
alanna and wai liong skipped this because they've taken this before or one too many times. alvin had to come because of me. hehe.
the noobs wearing the same jacket. haha.
oh shaddup.
'it's... a small world after all...'
'it's... a small world after all...'
'it's... a small world after all...'
'it's a small'

"Is it over yet, mommy? It's in my brain!!"
'small...'
'world...' (repeat)
evening was falling fast, and the winds were picking up. although most of us had our jackets out already, the wind chill was still getting to us! we kept walking though. TOONTOWN!!
mickey's house:
minnie's house:
'Gags ahead!'

AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE NIGHT PARADE!
Night parade shots are not simple at all, so I lost a few due to the dreaded blur. And I missed boo.
snow white:
duuuuuuude...
MARIE!!!!!!!
while waiting for the fireworks to begin after the parade we were all huddled together to prevent ourselves from freezing our asses off:
'due to strong winds, we regret that the fireworks display will be cancelled.'
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
oh well, time for more rides then. by 8pm, all the rides' waiting times were either 0min or 5 min. awesome!!!
because i was still sore from losing the buzz lightyear challenge, we went for round 2.
outcome?
the girls kicked so much ass we became Disney's angels. we beat the boys FLAT.
and then alvin gets eaten by his monster hat:
and on to the roger rabbit ride! *gasp JESSICA RABBIT!!*
the ride was pretty... psychedelic. very fun for us adults though because it was a feast for the eyes. but weird too. hmm.

Yep, example 3 of the weirdness of Disney.
anyways, back to Gag Town.
one more time!
on route to our last ride of the day, we stopped by the Peter Pan ride first - WHICH WAS FANTASTIC!!! you sit in a little sail boat cart, and they made it such that your boat seemed to be flying first out of wendy's bedroom, then over the city of London (U GET TO SEE BIG BEN!) and then into never never land! :D:D:D
our last ride of the day we fast passed it: it was a roller coaster ride speeding past mining scenes in a rocky mountain. oh man it was SO GOOD. you actually speed all the way up to a very high point overlooking disneyland. OH MAN! I WANNA GO BACK!!
first time round chuuling didn't join us because the flume ride was still unsettling her stomach ('that's reached my limit of the day pls. no thx!'). but the ride was so great and the lines were so short that we convinced her to take it just one time with us because there were no real drops and the speed was damn shiok.
and she loved it!! yay best ride of the day! :D
alas. time to go home, we were getting chased out already. :(

Yep, they very politely but firmly chase you out.
measurements for aurora's dress:
bye walt disney!
by the time we got back to Nakano it was so late that we were planning to skip dinner and go straight to bed. but the deathly cold weather forced us into nakano broadwalk, and alvin looked rather famished, so while searching for food, we passed by the option of standing up to eat our ramen for... MACDONALD'S!!!!!
alvin had the pork burger (WOOHOO!!), i can't remember what hanbin had, and chuu had a milkshake which was small but POTENT.
i had an ebi burger which just totally rocked my socks.
WHY!!! WHY THEIR MACDONALDS IS SO GOOD??!?! BRING TO SINGAPORE PLEASE!!! T_T
