Amici - The Authentic Italian Restaurant
"one fine evening, alvin and i decided to splurge a little on a good date dinner."
you know, i wish i could say that more often, but upon discussion with dellia, i realized: one-fine-evenings come pretty often, and good-dinners always come with one-fine-evening dates.
NO WONDER ALVIN AND I HAVE NO MONEY! AND HAVE TO EXERCISE SO MUCH!
ok, merely kidding about the exercising bit.
SOOOOO. that fine evening, we decided to explore holland village for good eats. after a whole episode of alvin getting off the bus when i didn't, then him hopping onto the bus behind us which went a different route from mine (a comedy of errors, that's us.), we found each other right at the center of lorong mambong. i really wanted some angelhair pasta so i peered through all the italian menus available as we walked along but alas!
NADA! T_T!!!!!!
i gave up, so we went to Amici as it was the second best offer. (got spaghetti ma. substitute fat angelhair lor. *grumble*)
first up! free bread!! i dipped mine in too much vinegar so my entire mouth was flooded with saliva. palate-cleansing, yes, but rather unglam. rather.
see, if we'd known there was free bread we wouldn't have ordered some bruschetta. BUT THANK GOODNESS WE DID. IT WAS FANTASTIC.
'trying to be arty farty' shot:
we had another starter (antipasto). one thing that alvin and i really dig are snails. they rock our socks.
'ALVIN THEY HAVE SNAILS.'
'ok, ordering ordering...'
it's not easy work handling them, but once you grip the shells YOU KNOW YOU'VE GOT IT. *salivate*
there, there! see that blob at the end of my fork? i mean, prong?
i'm up for some serious nommies, me thinks.
the snails were good. it's not gross at all. it's got a texture somewhere in between mushrooms and frog legs. mmm... very, very nais.
alvin's main, which was crab aglio olio, as usual:
my squid ink spaghetti! which was a first and also the last time i'll have something like that. thank goodness their squid ink pasta didn't really stain my mouth; it was all gone with a lick! that tiny piece of cod atop all that noodle was scrumptious though. :D
what's for dessert?
something's stuck in my teeth.
we're at an italian restaurant right? so must have their tiramisu right?
THAT was one great slice of tiramisu.
alvin's smirky after his better choice of entree. haha!
i couldn't ignore that huge Cold Rock sign. ICE CREAM!!
this was mine:
this was alvin's:
after dinner we strolled all the way back to buona vista mrt. it was all pretty romantic. :)
