sodesne!!

i had 2 revelations today.

1. RO water means Reverse Osmosis water.

2. when Franz Ferdinand sang 'Take Me Out', they meant in the sense of 'kill me' and not 'bring me out'. (thanks to the cross-hair reference)

man... what took me so long?

music from a harp

i can't get this out of my head.

---

I'm not calling you a liar,
just don't lie to me.
I'm not calling you a thief,
just don't steal from me.
I'm not calling you a ghost,
just stop haunting me..
I love you so much
I'm gonna let you, kill me.

David and Jade's wedding

i have nothing but love for this couple. words kind of fail me when i try to describe how happy i was to see them get married... it was just so natural for them to tie the knot.

here're some photos!

i was trying to contrast the fact that i was in heels and david (THE BRIDEGROOM) was in sneakers. in bright yellow too, no less.

but then again jade has a unique sense of fashion and color... and it was apparent at the wedding!

here's the lovely bride! i'm so glad we had supper together later that night because i get paiseh to hog the bride for a chat when there're so many other people also wanting to chat with the couple. heh.

see la, smile until my eyes became ^^.

then i got to the table... we had place cards! i looked at my name and wailed:

immediately in my head i had david's quacky voice going, 'viviaaaaan.'

he insisted it was a mere spelling error made by aunty patsy.

i still don't believe him. -_-

oh here's alvin and i trying to take a picture but angel kept laughing coz she said she could hardly see my eyes!

me and the 16 year old who bullies me ALL THE TIME.

by the end of the night, they kicked off their shoes and relaxed:

The xx + Florence And The Machine at the Esplanade Theatre, 7 Feb 2010

honestly, i was more inclined towards the xx than florence, but it seemed like the rest of the esplanade had it the other way around.

---

the xx:

the xx played first, and dude, they were so very good. it's exactly like it sounds in the album - the DJ was super tight, the bassist (male vocal) was almost flawless (haha, but we're just nitpicking :p) and the guitarist (female vocal) was so chill. an almost perfect performance. no frills; they were here to conquer and they did!

when they were done, i was too stunned to move. alvin kept checking to see if i was sleeping coz i was so still in my chair. haha.

here, check out alvin's videos. if you can, watch them in HD... but if your ram speed is utter crap like mine, just watch it in 360p - it's still very clear.

the two tracks that i love the most being played back to back... and alvin managed to get a continuous video! YAY! Here's Intro and Crystallised.

Basic Space

VCR

Night Time (with a special appearance by Florence)

florence and the machine:

i was quite bleh when they first started... florence was really running wild and i wasn't too sure about her songs, so i was just listening. vocally, she was really running amok and going crazy on stage. i was very confused.

but as the night wore on, and as she played and teased the audience... at one point she grabbed someone's polaroid and snapped a picture of herself and another one of the crowd (and kept both, hahaha), you just cannot help but be charmed by her.

on her part she was equally charmed by us; she kept dancing and singing like a madwoman... and gushed about how very pretty (and large) the esplanade theatre was. after a while i didn't care that she was not singing properly or whatever... she was so fun to watch! when the night ended i was so tired but had a silly grin across my face.

i'm so glad alvin dragged me to this concert! totally enjoyed myself.

also, taking another listen to florence on my headphones has changed things. i'm not going to say who's better, but they're both very, very good in their separate genres.

excuse me while i go put on my headphones again.

creepily accurate

You're an ESFJ

ESFJ

Well, what's there to say about ya, huh? You're a helpful person who places a high value on harmony. You pay close attention to people's needs and wants and work well with others to complete tasks in a timely and accurate way. You follow through on your commitments...you like structure and closure and like situations where warmth and compassion is shown. You're at your best by organizing people in getting a job done.

Radiate warmth and fellowship and generally fit in well with your classmates or workers....concerned about the feelings of others and like to help out when possible. You know it's important to give as well as receive and like to donate your services as a volunteer. You like to be with compatible people. You have an easier time making friends and accepting their roles in life... you like doing things traditionally.. you're old-fashioned that way.

You take the parent, spouse, employee or whatever role seriously...you learn best in a situation where you know what you can expect...you don't like continued interruptions..you really have to get along and like your teachers to learn well from 'em, huh? You place a high value on following through on tasks and assignments...you take the time to see how things fit together in the big picture, but this sometimes slows you down and makes you feel like you're learning slower than others...you respect rules and authority.. you do what you can to make sure your relationships run smoothly...

When you're in a leading situation, you pay attention to the needs of others. You often come across to others as friendly, warm and concerned....leisure is to be earned after work is done...like posting on the Storm Palace before playing the games.. ...you like including others in your relaxing... you like to have your social events regularly planned -- like a weekly softball league..

Love means warmth and commitment and you show this to your partner in many tangible ways...like cards and gifts and flowers and so on ...once you're committed, you stay in it even if it's an inconvenience to you...and maybe even longer than it's healthy...because you give so easily in a relationship, you're disappointed if others don't give as freely as you do.. you're more loyal to the institution of the relationship or marriage than the person...when burned in a relationship, you get hurt bad, and may need time to heal and get over it before moving on....you can really hurt someone if you wanted to...

Watch for: you tend to avoid conflict and sweep problems under the rug.. learn how to manage conflict and appreciate that conflict can help people in relationships to understand each other better...value your own priorities more and don't always put others' needs ahead of your own...don't bite off more than you can chew...hard to take or give corrective feedback, isn't it? You may not always ask for appreciation that you deserve...you might need to develop more assertiveness that way..you assume you know what's best for others and state these opinions.. that might rub 'em wrong and make you look bossy and rigid.... don't get so caught up in the details that you forget the larger picture....

Adventures in Chinatown

Only in Chinatown will stuff like this happen...

1. My chopsticks were accosted by a stranger uncle because he wanted to see exactly how many pieces of yong tau foo I had in my bowl.

2. Almost yelled WTS!!! at a mime who looked like a Beng with long wavy hair. I was more afraid of him than that strange uncle.

That's all for now! Off to vivo in air con comfort. Mmm.

Monday, February 01, 2010

i am aunty vivien.

my cousin got married over the weekend, so it was a huge chance to meet the family. (even better than CNY)

but all the children were afraid of me! coz aunty vivien stays in the east (they're all in the west, bukit panjang, jurong... jurong... jurong... -.-) so she doesn't see them very often - and that really sucks because they're all incredibly cute.

yes... even pui-zai.

so during the wedding i kept running after them for a hug and a kiss... gosh they have short legs but they can really run. T_T

no matter! we all met again the next day at a family chalet, since my cousin and her family flew in from australia.

and thank goodness i'm getting married next year instead, so it's not so taxing for her to come back to singapore.

surprisingly, ethan, the quietest of the lot (also the nephew chuuling and i share) came running at me and happily let me carry him and take pictures of him! i grabbed the chance to hug him, yay!

shannon, also another one that keeps running from me, plopped unto the sofa next to me and played a hand game. she is... loud. her voice is louder than her brother's. O_O

shannon's 7, and leon/pui-zai is 11. they're siblings. there was a moment where we sat down and talked.

me: 'shannon ah. you forgot who i was yesterday right?'

shannon shied away and giggled. then in all seriousness she turned back and said, 'ACTUALLY AH. YARRR!!! I FORGOT!!! DUNNO WHO YOU ARE!!!'

wah lau eh sibei dua sia... *ears ringggg*

other quips -

'how come or cek ('black uncle', aka adrean coz of his dark skintone HAHAHAHA) need to do homework but you no need? you're in university what!'

'what are you wearing? how come it's a dress? then GOT SHORTS? WHAT'S THAT! EEYUR! WHY SO WEIRD!' (i was wearing a jumper... it's not weird okay! *huffy*)

also linked to the jumper - 'YOU LOOK LIKE A STAR FISH.'

...

shannon: i know how to spell mountain! M... O... N...

leon and i: WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!

she bursts out laughing, thank goodness.

...

then their other cousins arrived, a brood of 3. and here're most of them at the swing! clockwise from me: JJ (aussie), ethan, yasmine (aussie), damien (brood of 3), his sister jieyi, and shannon.

missing: leon (at other swing, all alone, coz he's 'older and will not play with these children') and haofeng (brood of 3), who was standing where the camera man was.

YAY! I HAVE SO MANY OPTIONS FOR FLOWERGIRLS!
