and so the chinese new year begins

and it's gonna be another endless stream of photos. yikes!

first up: NEW STUFF!! (sorry, the shopaholic in me went berserk recently.) :p

and i still have online items from charlotte russe (they had 50% off!! how not to buy i ask you?) and urban outfitters (25% off sale prices!! their stuff are gorgeous!) en route to singapore.

heh. i bought these from target.com

just look at that ombre shade. i look like a floaty... er... blue tulip when i wore it; couldn't stop swishing my hips. *pleased*

i love the booties. they're the right size (thank goodness!!), very soft in the front, extremely comfortable, sturdy, and CHEAP. i want another pair of sigerson morrisons.

i also bought a bag from selfridge and a clutch from URS. ALL ON SALE. *excitable*

the nail job was not very successful though. stayed up till 2am painting coat after coat after coat... and it's still not very pretty. i showed them to ashley at service the next day and asked her opinion on my nails.

ashley (13 yrs old): hmm... *peers at them* did you do them yourself?
me: yup. why?? it's very bad ah?? :(((
ashley: welll... if do yourself then it's OKAY la. if you went to a manicure then this is very ugly.

Takamine D Series (my very first one)

so! before david left i managed to get him to help me choose a guitar!

i'm a total noob that's trying to lead worship by february, so after surveying 3 men (seth, daniel and david) they all pointed me towards getting an acoustic guitar instead of a classical.

i really wanted to take photos but we were rushing around so much that i hardly had time to whip out my camera. one thing i had time for - buying food. thinking i'd be a nice friend and all, i decided to get david a bun! *pats self on back*

but alas, when i passed it to him:

david: what's this?

me: oh, thought u might be hungry so i bought an extra bun. LOOK, I'M SO NICE RIGHT WAHAHAHAHAHA.

david: wah viviaaaaaaaaaaaan. what's inside?

barely had the word 'curry' slipped out of my mouth when i gasped and clapped my hands over my mouth. david just gave the 'WHAT, YOU TRYING TO KILL ME??!?!' face.

he cannot take chili. absolutely cannot. and i'd forgotten!! so much for my kind intentions. i promise u jade, i wasn't trying to poison your man.

haha! but out of goodwill he ate it anyway, and kept glaring at me while nibbling. i think he was also tearing up at one point. heeheehee.

so we found the Takamine for $235 (plus chord book from the 70's - it's incredibly retro, and strap and bag and picks and tuner. fwah! good deal sia!) at Davis in Peninsular. but i didn't buy it coz the top string had a weird twang and buzzed, so i ordered in a new piece.

then we met alvin and hopped over to citylink (this requires another post that should be published... in a few more months) and then to city music where he got another guitar (which we had to collect for him in an hour) and promptly forgot to take his shirt and book that he left at the counter.

imagine how much i had to lug to the airport just so he could bring everything back to Australia. sigh. aunty taking bus you know...

ok that was how i found my guitar. one week later, alvin went down to peninsular with me to collect it and that was my christmas present from him!! YAY.

the giver:

the receiver:

also, guess who gave me that shirt? :)

serious $@&%#$ backlog

faced with the daunting task of uploading 300+ photos and detailing 30 days worth of memories and fun times (ah, lazy december)... i think i'd better start NOW.

first up:

FCBC's service is now at 10am!

combined with the adults' service!

this was the first service of the year, all of us in one big family now. check out the sea of people man!

eeks

i was just sitting down and trying to figure out what my teen cell (YAR THEY'RE TEENS NOW, AND I'M SO NOT USED TO IT) dialogue session should be called...

inevitably, this popped into my mind.

'Gossip, Girls'

everyone gets the wrong idea

FYI, these happened on separate occasions. and it's too absurd not to blog about it before i even start on my 10+ other backlogged posts.

---
occasion #1 (somewhere at the end of december)

on a telephone conversation with my brother:

me: adrean can you meet me at city hall later? i need help to carry my new guitar.
adrean: huh, why you buy so many? got how many buttons, this one?
me: ??? where got, there's only alvin's one at home what. (and what the heck did he mean by buttons??!?!)
adrean: one? there're two right?

(a few seconds later it dawns upon me he's referring to another type of 'guitar' i always play)

me: OI I'M TALKING ABOUT A REAL GUITAR LA!
adrean: OH!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

at that time, i had 3 of alvin's guitars at home; one was his classical which i borrowed for actual guitar lessons, and 2 'guitars' for the xbox.

---
occasion #2 (a few days after)

at alvin's place:

me: dear, seriously, what do you want for christmas?
alvin: i don't know.
me: TSK!! WHY!! YOU'RE SO DIFFICULT TO BUY FOR!! *starts my endless tirade of why he's hard to buy for (it's not me, it's him!!!)
alvin: (cuts me off) okok, i know. u can get me the wireless bass guitar.
me: huh. don't u have one already?
alvin: ? no what.
me: YAR! THAT BIG WOODEN PIECE!
alvin: nono! i'm talking about the new rock band guitar!! made for playing bass!!

i started laughing at how ridiculous this conversation was, juxtaposed with the one i just had with adrean.

---
occasion #3 (today)

on the way home with alvin and joshua:

me: hey dear, so we're practising guitar tomorrow right?
alvin: yar.
joshua: wah lau the two of you are guitar hero siao you know, why must plan a day to practise somemore...
alvin and i (in perfect unison and exasperation):

"IT'S A REAL GUITAR!!!"

and yar, alvin is still without a christmas present. thank you dear i love mine alotalotalotalotalot. (he gave me the real guitar, haha.)

(i think i will have a good laugh if i do get him the rock band bass he was asking for. one real, one fake. yar josh we are siao after all.)

waking up too early (after sleeping at 2am) to make sure i get to work and get my slo-mo computer running before 9am...

it'd better be worth it.

---
(6 min later)

WAITING... AND WAITING... ugh

---
(another 6 min later)

i know we're all out there, hunching over our computers and all groggy from the lack of sleep coz of all the excitement building up.

so please, God, please don't let the system crash from the tons of other female fans who're preparing to enter the website at 9am. please. PLEASE.

---
(9:26am)
