nasty girl

as i'm trying to think of ways to teach the kids about the parable of 'An eye for an eye', i start to realize that when people are nasty to me, i really want to take a good bitchy revenge by being equally as horrible.

yep, being 25 years old does not spare you from all that childish rage.

then i realize that what i'd like to teach the kids is about NOT taking revenge into your own hands, but leaving it to God. and maybe it's because i've been affected by how nasty some people are, that by taking my own little snide revenges, i've been drawn into being quite the nasty girl too.

alrighty. God, i'm letting go now!

last week was A BLAST!!

monday:
The Forbidden Kingdom is such a crappy fantastic movie i'd LOVE to watch it again. lame jokes, martial arts cliches, and weird flying stances? we were definitely in for the laughs!!!!

it is SO CORNY; everyone who grew up on Jackie Chan and Jet Li should go watch it. it didn't help when we were in Jack's car and the intro to the really retro Monkey King series suddenly blasted from the radio.

awww the fond cheena memories... :)

tuesday:
celebrated ChuuLing's 25th birthday!! which was actually on Monday.

egads, it was one expensive lunch.

wednesday:

it was the first time i've ever been to dempsey.
don't blame me la... no car, and it's so out of the way. man, i hate cabbing home... thank goodness xinwei had a $5 comfort cab voucher (i never even knew there was such a thing)

celebrated angel's 25th birthday!

oh the night sky that day was so GORGEOUS, i couldn't resist taking a few shots. at this point, i still had no idea how to adjust my ISO. across the overhead bridge to dempsey

walking out from ben and jerry's (yes, hi jolene! hehe.)

thursday:
had some much-needed rest, in preparation for.....

FRIDAY!!!:

ok this was one intense day. i had to plan games for the children (it's games day) AND plan for candice's birthday.

it started out with 'hey let's go to ktv, it's been too long!'. then everything snowballed and resulted in a 'let's get everyone together to celebrate candice's birthday overnight from friday to saturday morning in a KTV room!'

games day with the children was a disaster. sigh... these kids... i realize there is some pattern to their behaviour; every 3 months they're in for a scolding.

after cell group at melville park which ended at 10pm, aileen, alvin and i zipped down to suntec by 11pm to meet the rest (jobyna, junliang, ingrid and CANCAAAAAAN)

and kbox gave us their largest room...
with a podium. XD!!!!

and from the pictures below, i think you can see for yourself how we all went mad. we have videos too, but i think it's... um... hahaha.

yes, and i only selected these few photos out of 91 photos. hahaha... thanks to junliang the cam-'ella' man. *snigger*

saturday and sunday:
fell sick, lost my voice, couldn't walk properly, but i learnt how to adjust the ISO of my fujifuji!

candence

talking to ed about punk led to anberlin, which led to me re-listening to them...

i got to foreign language and i think the lyrics are quite apt to a certain situation right now. oh well. :)

Tell it to me straight, give it to me now
Face forward, face forward

Boys speak in rhythm and girls in code

Speaking foreign language, nothing I can translate
You're speaking foreign language, nothing I can dictate
you're speaking foreign language

Boys speak in rhythm and girls just lie

Tell me how you feel, come out of the dark
Then we can head back home and I'll know where to start

Speaking foreign language, nothing I can translate
You're speaking foreign language, nothing I can dictate
you're speaking foreign language
nothing i can translate
you're speaking foreign language.

We need medication for this miscommunication
where did we go wrong?
Our conversation's weakened
conversations weakened

Do you ever inflict unwanted memories?

from carrollblog:

After they broke up, she continued to send him things in the mail occasionally. Nothing big-- CD's she made of favorite music, new books she read and liked, small stuff. She did it simply because she thought he would like them too and she wanted to share even though they no longer had contact. According to the rules of romance you're not supposed to do that after you've stopped seeing someone, but who made those rules? She had loved him and they were very happy once. Wasn't that reason enough to send things now and then that she believed would make him glad? They had gotten along so well when they were together, she was certain he would understand now why she did it. I liked this and I think you will too. I remember the things you liked. That's all. Nothing more or less. I hope you enjoy it. But he didn't understand. Eventually he wrote her a short curt note saying "I don't know how to feel about these things you've been sending me." Once they'd told each other real secrets about themselves and confessed to weaknesses they tried to hide from the rest of the world. For a short blessed time, they'd felt both safe and at home with one another. Despite that intimacy, now she had become only a stranger bearing gifts and of course we should always be suspicious of them.

oshkosh b'... GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

i walked over the bridge outside my place, took a glimpse into the pond and STARED.

that is one HUGE MUTHAAAAAAAAAAAA FEESH!!!!!!

it's the size of my arm. the length, not width. it's as thick as a slab of ham. *peng san*

even a whole school of luohans were fleeing from the monster fish. and the luohans are the size of my forearm!!!! O_O

i watched it go tail first into a clump of plants... it was like watching a car doing a 3-point turn.

i just gaped at it.

the monster fish swimming backwards... i know, right? WHICH FISH SWIMS BACKWARDS??!?!?!

@_@!!!!!!!!!

i have no doubt my pool is breeding mutant fish. i nervously got off the bridge over the pond, secretly fearing that the monster fish will rear up and attack me from behind.

*creepy*

---

on the other hand, or arm, alvin and i went down to the Big Splash to check out the place.

they had a pond there too.

i peered over cautiously...

and saw schools of little fish!! it was so delightful!!! :D

sunset:

peas in a pod (alvin and i were dressed EXACTLY the same again. green top, same shade of levi's jeans. *grumble*):

---

the american idol wannabes sang 'Shout to the Lord' at the closing of an episode.

at first, i was shocked and awed. really! shout to the Lord on international TV? it made me really happy.

then halfway through the song i just felt sad because it felt so empty. all technique and no soul.; it's not worship... just a mere song.

so empty. :(

(hehe, darlene zschech, FTW!!!)

i really lykke it, just a little bit.

the best part about the 1st of april...

... is not just because it's my parents' anniversary, and more than the fact that i can play 'i-am-preggers' jokes and get away with it.

it's because of all the crazy stuff that appear on the net.

check this out. heeheehee.

and i'm not forgetting 'the bard' on WoW as well. *extremely tickled* well, if it was true i might play WoW...

which will also be the day pigs fly. :D

yay for no doubt!

we all went over to alvin's for some xbox action, which turned out to be just guitar hero action all the way. which is great, coz i haven't played since FCBC had the games fast.

---

side note: when pastor khong announced the games fast, i was all for it, coz i thought it was only computer games. then he paused... and added: 'xbox also.'

me: *O_O* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

---

i was all excited to check out alvin's new No Doubt songs which he bought as a pack; i wondered what songs were included in the pack...

AND THERE IT IS! SUNDAY MORNING! XD

playing No Doubt's Sunday Morning on Guitar Hero was really fun! alvin was guitar and i took bass coz it's just so kickass in the intro. we got 4 stars on the first try... and never got any better after that.

boohoo.

hehe can't wait to try the guitar bit next. hehehehehe.

so what happened on the 2nd of april?

JADE! this post is for u! hehehehehe...

alvin and i had a plan for ME to lose some weight, so to make him happy (it's his birthday ma), i went jogging in the morning for 40 minutes. i am so proud of myself! i think the brand new sports bra helps. it makes me feel sporty.

i felt so hot after that. heh heh.

then i took a shower and hopped back into sports wear, but this time it was for cycling. yep, i met alvin and after a lazy lunch, we hit east coast to try out our new wide angle lomo camera. we both rented bicycles and rode out to bedok jetty. the beach was so pretty and empty! *sigh* i love taking leave.

<---- *SQUEAL!* AEROPLANE!!!! :D

these are the pictures from my digicam. the lomo pictures aren't developed yet, will scan the nice ones in once they're done!

gosh, i love cycling.

by 3:30pm alvin's alarm (yeah, he actually set an alarm -_-) signalling that we should be going back already.

'alvin, where on earth are you bringing me??'

'you'll find out la... maybe you shouldn't have expectations that are too high.'

'is it... *gasp* ARE YOU BRINGING ME TO THE WHEELIE THING??'

'what wheelie thing?'

'that wheelie thing.'

'??????'

'... OH OH I KNOW!!! WE'RE GOING TO CLARKE QUAY TO TRY THE SUPERMAN RIDE!!!'

'no la, we're going to town.'

'what the heck - are we going to Jaben??!?!?! i will smack you so hard if we are.'

(Jaben is alvin's audiophilic heaven. it's a shop that sells audio equipment.)

'no la!!! ok stop asking.'

alvin was cycling ahead of me and i saw him laugh at a girl cycling past him. i check out the girl, and it was xiangjun! haha, what are the odds man! we had a short conversation that went like this:

xj: hey! how come you all are here?
me: took leave!
xj: hahahaha, BYEEeeeee...ee... (fades away)

*ZOOM*

yes, all this happened in a span of cycling past each other at top speed. not bad at all.

alvin and i raced each other to the bike shop (i lost, stupid bike $@^$#), had big cups of milo at Mac's, and then he attempted to piggy-back me home (the day's activities have not been kind to my legs) but ended up injuring me in places unmentionable.

'do i need to dress nicely?' alvin asks.

'huh, i'm just wearing jeans.'

'aren't we going to a nice restaurant?'

'yar, but wear jeans can la. as long as you don't look giam chai. and no slippers!'

'yes dear, i know. ok, jeans then. i thought you were going to wear a dress and be swanky.'

'well, i can't do that since we're going cycling right? where are you bringing me before the dinner? OH NO AM I UNDER-DRESSED??!?!'

'no dear, relax! and stop asking!'

me ---> :( + pout

as we walked to the bus stop, alvin decided to flag a cab. WE GOT A MERCEDES CAB! HOW WONDERFUL RIGHT??!?!?! XD

i peeled my ears back to catch where we were going.

'uncle, Singapore Flyer please.'

'AH HA! I KNEW IT! WE ARE GOING TO THE WHEELIE THING!'

'you called it a wheelie thing! it's called the singapore flyer!'

'how i know! i forgot the name, so i described it as the wheelie thing lor! the one with the zhnged lights.'

'yar lar... anyway, i didn't deny it what.'

'oh yar. *squeals* oh gosh this is so exciting!!! :D!!!'

(oh man, i must have sounded so much like a bimbo to the cab uncle. *abashed*)

can i just mention that mercedes cabs are soooooo very comfy? ahhhhhh...

we're reaching!!!

once we got off the cab, i turned to alvin, wiggled my eyebrows and said, 'let's be complete tourists.' he totally agreed and then we started to speak loudly and dotted our speeches with '-neh's, 'so desu's and 'ah no's.

alvin even threw in a 'gamsahamnida' for effect... which blew our cover coz it made me laugh. we're pretending to be japanese! not korean! ahahahahahaha!

they have a really pretty garden sponsored by yakult...

and check it out, i found a belly button shop...

... which sells kimono stuffs. haha, gotcha there!

no? :(

anyways, alvin bought me a really pretty (and really expensive) rubber band.

it's $28 after discount. *faints* it took me seriously long to decide which one to get, coz everything was SO EXPENSIVE. GAH.

oh crap look at the time! we have 5 minutes to get to our capsule!

we rush out of the store, take a quick detour at the loo (the ride's 30 minutes), dash up the escalator, posed for a photo moment...

AND WE'RE IN!

hmm, collaging this crops our faces. BUT IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FACES! IT'S ABOUT THE SCENERY!! CHECKKIT!!!!!!!

oh, so pretty... *click*click* (alvin's also clicking away on his lomo)

<--- floating football pitch. scaryy.

hey it's the other capsule!! HI EVERYBODYYYY *click*click*

alvin: hey dear there's your favorite condo!
me: OH! *CLICK*CLICK*CLICK*

... and then my camera's battery went flat. :(

COZ I DIDN'T KNOW WE WERE GOING UP THERE, DID I??

T_T

we barely made it for this shot, then my trusty fuji gave up on me. *sniff*

ahhh sunsets are always so gorgeous. we knew the sunset was gonna be at 7:12pm that evening, but we were trying to play it safe since the lomo doesn't have flash, so we took the 630-7pm ride, where there's still sufficient light.

if you go, do check the sunset timing and just follow it. and recharge your camera's batteries. i'm still feeling very diao about it.

but all's still good, coz the next stop was Ristorante Bologna which is so alarmingly atas that taking pictures there would seem socially embarrassing.

i regret not dressing up. oh well.

dinner was so good, and the waiters (i can't quite seem to call them waiters... they seem so much more) treated us so nicely, with smiles and ready explanations. everything was going fine until i asked for more water.

after the waiter (*cringe*) left, alvin said, 'hey you know you have to pay for the water right?'

memories of posts from waiterrant.net came up.

'oh crap. i thought we only have to pay for 'sparkling'?'

'no dear. we got 'still'.'

'isn't that tap water??'

the waiter arrives, and opens our second bottle of water and places it, now half-full, at the edge of our table. Panna Aqua, Tuscan - what the... how come i didn't see this just now??!?!

me: 'oh my goodness. how much do you think that is???'

'erm, $15-20 per bottle?'

'OMG DID I JUST PAY $40 FOR WATER??!?!'

imagine our relief when the bill came:

AND, $155 was after 15% discount alright. the bill was actually $181, i think?

oh yes, let's not forget the photo moment at the Singapore Flyer:

and.....

THE END.

yes jade, you can smack us now. heehee.

you've got me chewing my fingernails in suspense, thanks.

on the way to buona vista on bus 95...

alvin: so what time are you making the reservation tomorrow?

me: hmm? no need la, it's a weekday.

alvin: ok... hey, we'll book at eight ok?

me: *bewildered* no need to book what! and er... why at eight? *gets suspicious* what? what's happening at eight?

alvin: heh heh. dunno? *shrug*

me: EH! TELL ME! EHHHHHH.

alvin: ... be prepared to say yes tomorrow.

me: WHAT?! eh! what thing??? say yes?!

alvin: heh heh.

and then he refused to tell me more.

i should've just played the 'i'm pregnant' joke on him this morning. tsk.

TSK!!!!!!!!! I HATE WAITING LIKE THIS!!!! tmd. -_-"'

...

*gasp*
