this is brilliant!

a 224-word palindrome.

"Dammit I’m Mad"

by

Demetri Martin

Dammit I’m mad.
Evil is a deed as I live.
God, am I reviled? I rise, my bed on a sun, I melt.
To be not one man emanating is sad. I piss.
Alas, it is so late. Who stops to help?
Man, it is hot. I’m in it. I tell.
I am not a devil. I level “Mad Dog”.
Ah, say burning is, as a deified gulp,
In my halo of a mired rum tin.
I erase many men. Oh, to be man, a sin.
Is evil in a clam? In a trap?
No. It is open. On it I was stuck.
Rats peed on hope. Elsewhere dips a web.
Be still if I fill its ebb.
Ew, a spider… eh?
We sleep. Oh no!
Deep, stark cuts saw it in one position.
Part animal, can I live? Sin is a name.
Both, one… my names are in it.
Murder? I’m a fool.
A hymn I plug, deified as a sign in ruby ash,
A Goddam level I lived at.
On mail let it in. I’m it.
Oh, sit in ample hot spots. Oh wet!
A loss it is alas (sip). I’d assign it a name.
Name not one bottle minus an ode by me:
“Sir, I deliver. I’m a dog”
Evil is a deed as I live.
Dammit I’m mad.

O_O awesomely long palindrome mirrors at the blue 'i'.

maximising the good sound

after 2 weeks of fiddling with my humungous earphones and trying all sorts of ways to stuff them into my teeny tiny ears, I'VE FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION!

wear them on opposite ears!!! alvin, it worked!!

now it sounds like jason mraz is singing right in my face. and the ukelele is in a studio residing in my head. and jason mraz's vocal partner is sitting in my left ear.

IT'S AN INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE!! when it's quiet, it's oh-so-silent because this method completely seals off the ambient sound and the isolation of all the instruments playing is crystal clear. the volume is only at 7 (it's usually at 12) and i can't even hear myself tapping on the keyboard.

marvellous!!

wow. kings of convenience is even better. this is just making me wanna grab my guitar and try to play until my skin tears. @_@

even the cello's making me shiver.

the weird thing is that the sounds i've grown accustomed to coming through the right ear are now all on the left. somewhat odd. =)

jason mraz redux!

oh it was such an exciting morning.

i woke up late, barely managed to squeeze up bus 9, and trundled to school with just a little bit of hyperactivity.

i reached the biopolis bus stop at 830am and that was when i knew i was being overstressed because i had a HUGE URGE to... run to the loo.

sanity #1: "ok, viv, RELAX."
nerves: "how to??!?! even if i reach school on time my computer takes 30 minutes to start up and run properly!"
sanity #1: "call the smart lab! ask whoever's around to start up your computer!"

i did just that. due to relief my tummyache went away. i got onto the NUH bus.

5 minutes later the lab calls back: "hey viv your password's not working."

sanity #1 and nerves: ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
sanity #2 (yeah, this is my backup): go back to the old lab. the computers there are always running.

i reached school at 850am (omg heart attack) and alvin smses me, "hey dear! i'll be waiting for the good news!"

i sms while running, "i'm still walking! if i die of a heart attack you better take care of my family."

i manage to run to the lift and get my way up to md4a. YES THE COMPUTERS ARE ON... wait. hello? sleep mode? wakey? WAKEY PLEASE??!?!

in an attempt to turn on the computer, i turned it OFF instead. don't ask me how. *scowl*

i panicked big time. i started to turn on all 3 terminals and logged into 2 of them, then used the one that booted up faster.

come on, sistic. come on. PLEASE DON'T BE OPENED YET.

wow yay i still have time! i relax a little but i still need to go to the toilet SO BADLY. T_T

i take a closer look at the sistic website. eh wait... the seating plan looks different... WHAT! THERE'RE RUNWAYS NOW??!?!?! AND THERE'S A SECTION IN BETWEEN THE RUNWAYS... OH MY GOODNESS WE NEED TO SIT AT SECTION PA!!!!!!!!

*click*
*refresh*

*click*

... (this goes on for awhile)

*click*

*click*
ARGH ARGH IT'S UP!!! okok erm erm, Cat 1, block PA, erm erm OH 5 TICKETS! ALMOST FORGOT AND PUT ONE GEEZ!

*enter*

*ding!* yes we are in section PA!! *does a little jig in my mind* okok. WHAT. I NEED TO SIGN IN?! WTH IS MY PASSWORD??!?!

i tentatively tried a password PRAYING THEY WOULD NOT BOOT ME OUT OF THE SYSTEM IF I FAILED. the password was wrong!! but they didn't boot me out thank goodness... i had to turn on msn, log into hotmail, retrieve my password from my folder and copy it in AND THEN CHANGE MY PASSWORD.

there were so many points when my heart almost failed. :(

okok everything's still looking good. proceed to payment. wait.

MASTERCARD OR VISA?? ER ER... WHAT IS ALVIN'S FULL NAME??!?! AND NRIC..........

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i called him immediately and i suspect i was really loud coz there was so much pent up energy and adrenaline in me. hahaha.

"ok calm down dear, you've got it. relax."
"i don't have it!! gimme your full name. uh-huh. nric? uh-huh. OK WAIT DON'T PUT DOWN THE PHONE YET UNTIL I CONFIRM EVERYTHING."

i click 'confirm'. the page bounces back to me, 'you need to pay with a mastercard to collect via the free mastercard collection method.'

my heart dropped like a stone. i had to go back to page one. carefully, i counted the number of pages to go back to and voila! i wasn't booted out and i could change my choices!! my heart almost failed again but from relief this time.

so i redid everything under 3 minutes... AND WE'RE THROUGH. WE'VE GOT THEM!! XD

23rd March, Indoor Stadium, Section PA

COLDPLAY!!!

i went back into the system after i was done just to check and see if i bought 2 tickets i'd go any closer to the front. nope. PA was already sold out. *phew* and apparently the sistic system crashed at about 930am. sheesh!

Amici - The Authentic Italian Restaurant

"one fine evening, alvin and i decided to splurge a little on a good date dinner."

you know, i wish i could say that more often, but upon discussion with dellia, i realized: one-fine-evenings come pretty often, and good-dinners always come with one-fine-evening dates.

NO WONDER ALVIN AND I HAVE NO MONEY! AND HAVE TO EXERCISE SO MUCH!

ok, merely kidding about the exercising bit.

SOOOOO. that fine evening, we decided to explore holland village for good eats. after a whole episode of alvin getting off the bus when i didn't, then him hopping onto the bus behind us which went a different route from mine (a comedy of errors, that's us.), we found each other right at the center of lorong mambong. i really wanted some angelhair pasta so i peered through all the italian menus available as we walked along but alas!

NADA! T_T!!!!!!

i gave up, so we went to Amici as it was the second best offer. (got spaghetti ma. substitute fat angelhair lor. *grumble*)

first up! free bread!! i dipped mine in too much vinegar so my entire mouth was flooded with saliva. palate-cleansing, yes, but rather unglam. rather.

DSCF8314

see, if we'd known there was free bread we wouldn't have ordered some bruschetta. BUT THANK GOODNESS WE DID. IT WAS FANTASTIC.

DSCF8317

'trying to be arty farty' shot:

DSCF8319

we had another starter (antipasto). one thing that alvin and i really dig are snails. they rock our socks.

'ALVIN THEY HAVE SNAILS.'
'ok, ordering ordering...'

DSCF8321

it's not easy work handling them, but once you grip the shells YOU KNOW YOU'VE GOT IT. *salivate*

DSCF8325

there, there! see that blob at the end of my fork? i mean, prong?

DSCF8326

DSCF8327

i'm up for some serious nommies, me thinks.

DSCF8328

the snails were good. it's not gross at all. it's got a texture somewhere in between mushrooms and frog legs. mmm... very, very nais.

alvin's main, which was crab aglio olio, as usual:

DSCF8329

my squid ink spaghetti! which was a first and also the last time i'll have something like that. thank goodness their squid ink pasta didn't really stain my mouth; it was all gone with a lick! that tiny piece of cod atop all that noodle was scrumptious though. :D

DSCF8332

what's for dessert?

DSCF8334

something's stuck in my teeth.

DSCF8337

we're at an italian restaurant right? so must have their tiramisu right?

DSCF8340

THAT was one great slice of tiramisu.

alvin's smirky after his better choice of entree. haha!

DSCF8343

i couldn't ignore that huge Cold Rock sign. ICE CREAM!!

this was mine:

after dinner we strolled all the way back to buona vista mrt. it was all pretty romantic. :)

steamboat with the crescent girls

it was such a long and short journey to kunshan's. long because i didn't know where exactly i was and had to get from ulu puluh tampines giant (where i bought a grand total of... $3+ worth of veggies!!! so cheap.) to castle green in ang mo kio~! :(

i refused to cab down because of the exorbitant 35% peak hour charge, so i had to rely on bus service routes printed on bus stops and my barely-there knowledge that the CTE leads to the SLE (or was it TPE? OH WELL. ANYHOW TRY LA.). somehow or another, after taking one bus that got me to jalan kayu (eh is that... yio chu kang road... AH GET OFF NOW GET OFF THE BUS NOWNOWNOW!!) and another bus that ran along yio chu kang road, i managed to get to castle green (hey, the view's pretty nice... wonder how long i'll take... hmmm... that condo looks like a castle! how quaint! *smiles to self vapidly* ... *MAKES THE CONNECTION AND SCRAMBLES OFF THE BUS*).

the journey was short because it only took me 30 minutes. HAHA. amazing eh?
i love castle green. the huge space in the centre is just gorgeous!

DSCF8366

when i got there, the working people were there already! (but they all drove la. and i was downstairs taking pictures while my veggie wilted.)

DSCF8370

the best abalone i've ever tasted.

DSCF8374

no it's actually one giant piece that they had to chop up into 2 just so that it could fit into the can. geez!

DSCF8375

all the kitchen workers:

DSCF8380

then mel came with a tub of ice cream so these are the skivers (no, you see wrong; that's not me at the side):

DSCF8385

(what would be funny)

kunshan: ok that's it. you guys are out from my kitchen.

(actual)

kunshan: hey guys there's raw food here so maybe you should eat outside, otherwise you might get sick.

DSCF8414

after stuffing ourselves silly we sat around the living room and watched the australian open for a bit before breaking out my boardgame. boon chin was the ultimate winner, hahahahaha!

DSCF8417

SC Meeting

so after i was done meeting the girls' parents, i sped down to town to meet the student council girls at shokudo - raffles place!

everyone was late. and everyone was like, just 5 of us - 2 of which i meet every month. -_-

BUT IT WAS SO GOOD TO SEE PIN YIING AND SHARIKA AGAIN! :D

DSCF8419

we had too much food, really. everything just looked yummy.

my yakitori!

DSCF8423

DSCF8427

after which hao lun popped by for a bit and vacuumed up our leftovers and then left straight away, haha. we ladies then hopped over to harry's bar for happy hour (at 4pm, no less).

we split shortly after our long and rather adult conversation (teehee), then angel, xinwei and i went down to orchard to meet david.

DSCF8429

i think the whole beer + coffee mix wasn't the best idea. i ended up being so perky that i persuaded angel to go all the way to great world city just so she can get THAT particular hair straightener. too much energy, really.

so we bundled into the van like refugees!

DSCF8430

DSCF8431

'what the heck are you doing, viv.'

'hehe. hehehe.'

the van was not easy to sit in. there were no handles and we were perched on the bump formed by the wheels......... everytime we went up/down a slope we (mainly me) squealed and fluttered our arms for balance.

the humps were the worst. *sob*

BUT WE GOT THERE AND BOUGHT THE HAIR STRAIGHTENER. not before xinwei and angel 'tested' it out and strode out of best denki with super straight hair hahaha! we headed to the arcade. :)))

bishi bashi INSTRUCTIONS!!! hahahaha i love bishi bashi; their instructions are always so absurd.

DSCF8434

ready?

DSCF8433

GO!!!!!!

DSCF8437

i also tried my hand at biking which was an absolute fail.

DSCF8440

but i am the undefeated champion for air hockey! woohoo!! :D
