over too soon (now, with pictures!)

i hate moshers. i really do.

the day full of anberlin seemed too short, though we did manage to meet the band and gush to stephen at the little library cafe (we were really blessed). we even managed to get some pictures with my poster! :D

HAPPY!!

IMG_3108

i'd say the library meet and greet (up close and personal! woohoo!) was the best...

IMG_3133

IMG_3145

it's time for one of their best covers - Creep, by Radiohead. thanks to rock band, i could sing along! (well, i could only sing the chorus before rock band came into existence.)

IMG_3157

IMG_3171

... followed by the acoustic session where only half the crowd knew the songs (it was not like the home club experience man)...

the one we labelled 'naked guy'.

deon just suddenly bounded onto the stage and snapped a picture of the audience... stephen seemed amused. :)

... and then there was the full blown concert at the closing of baybeats.

IMG_3282

IMG_3284

IMG_3285

IMG_3287

damn moshers. -_-

anberlin were absolutely sweet people and electrifying performers man. just that the crowd was... not that great. sigh. it will be good if the concert is not free the next time around.

hehe, sieve out the non-fans and children.

well, first it was the meet and greet. alvin and i arrived at the esplanade library WAYYYY ahead of time, only to realize there's a bunch of ang mohs... sitting at the cafe... !! isn't that anberlin??!?!

IMG_3102

WAIT.

STEPHEN IS THERE SITTING AWAY FROM THE REST. ON HIS LAPTOP.

there's a bit of a conundrum when you're 26 years old and trying to maintain composure while wanting to get all gushy fan-ish. i settled with jiggling on the spot and smacking alvin's arm, 'stephen's there! there!! let's go say hi!'

and so we did. i don't think he remembered the kiss on stage, but later when i took out my poster, Deon (the bassist) remembered! we spoke to stephen for abit, told him we got engaged, largely thanks to alvin and i bonding over their music in the start of the relationship. he also mentioned he just got married, and was working on his book.

IMG_3105

IMG_3106

a huge bout of shyness then overcame me and i really didn't want to impose, so we left shortly after.

i am so glad we managed to get photos. so glad. although the minder said there would be a photo opportunity after the acoustic show, there was NONE! we only managed to get the last two albums signed, and i squeezed in a, 'we're using inevitable for our wedding video!'. i think stephen was quite pleased with that!

IMG_3274

the fans i met were great. the lone girl at the meet and greet who shared a table with us. the malay bunch that we shared personal space with because it was so damn crowded at the mosh pit. we also sang A Day Late at the top of our lungs with them while waiting for anberlin to appear, it was really entertaining. :D

oh, and seth was there too - we both got so excited our hairs were standing and we kept grinning like cheshire cats.

---

by the way seth, when i went to the wake me up booth to get The Fire Fight's album, the person at the cashier was like, 'oh you're getting this? you want to get it signed? coz like, josh is here.' and he pointed at this guy standing next to me.

i looked up at the same time as josh and i was like WHAT! SO COINCIDENTAL! so he signed it, and wrote a little note, then i er, kinda mentioned i knew you and i think...

i made you out to sound like a rabid fan.

i am really sorry!! i think i said, 'yar seth talks about you guys all the time.' i dunno man. i thought u should know. i'm sorry! O_O

but he did mention you and the band were quite close, which was cool. thought you should know that too. and i also mentioned you were really pleased with their LP. :D

and then we saw 'fake josh' right after 'real josh' appeared. you know who we mean. alvin and i had quite a good laugh. hehe.

---

well, the mosh pit.

ok firstly there were girls in hairbands and high heels and short skirts there. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??!?! a whole bunch of them got really hurt coz their feet were trampled on, we saw them at the first aid counter. sigh.

somehow alvin and i managed to squeeze up to a mere 4 rows in front of the barricade, thanks to the ambassadors calling for some moshing. but it was okay still... the anberlin one was worse. a lot worse.

well alvin was there to pull the bodysurfers down before they kicked me in the head, so that was great. actually, the guys surrounding me were tight, and they all had girlfriends so they were all doing the same. but being right in the centre front of the stage will, of course, be where the attacks are the worst, so i was prepared to leave once my air supply was cut off.

when anberlin appeared the crowd went nuts. it's like being stuck in the waves of a storm. i was surviving, but i was really too short and so i only breathed moist carbon dioxide 5 minutes into the concert. i really couldn't enjoy myself anymore (and had enough of having my face pressed onto some guy's shoulder/back) so we went to the back.

GAH. IT WAS AWFUL. THOSE MOSHERS AREN'T EVEN ENJOYING THE MUSIC! :(

kids behaving badly. tsk.

sigh, i miss the band already.

2 years gone

it's been two years and finally, anberlin is making good on their promise to return to us!

i wished they'd brought The Academy Is along with them from the australian leg, but i guess TAI will have to wait.

i'm really excited. really, i am so excited i think i've lost my appetite because i'm full with anticipation. i've already got my contact lenses, moshing shoes and rags ready.

i'm just wondering what i should write on that sign of mine. hmm.

more tomorrow. ;)

---

by the way, they're performing at Baybeats, which means it's FREE. come catch them! :)

they'll be performing once at 7pm (acoustic - i will just sit there and melt) and then closing Baybeats at 1030pm. oh man, my tummy is churning from over-excitement...

i heart navy walls. and the ikea catalogue.

YOSH!! here're some ideas that i really love.

navy walls:

this patch of turquoise wall is really pretty too.

and i guess i don't
hate wallpaper, i just don't like how all the interior designers give you a 'template' which all include:

1. feature mirror
2. feature wall
3. tv console
4. wallpaper

...

ok, ok wait. there is nothing wrong with that too. the new place will most likely have all these as well. it's not wrong.

sigh.

it's just that all these 'designers' give the same victorian wallpaper/laminates/positioning of mirrors and the same cookie-cutter concept of

MODERN CONTEMPORARY.

i have learnt to associate that word to cold looking rooms, hardness, patent blacks and whites, the occasional (and blinding) vermillion, and mirrors.

oh, and chandeliers.

ick. why why WHY is there no originality??!?!

you know, that's why alvin and i have taken so long just to find someone we can trust to design a
home. (er, and also because i can't decide on a theme... it has ranged from country, vintage, retro and even a sea themed home... which doesn't look too bad here:

---

our latest and most trusted designer has finally replied after some time. her summary to the concept?

'your house will turn out cute.'

i laughed my head off when i heard it. alvin's intrigued/worried while i'm all impressed coz she saw right through me! i wonder if she will take kindly to navy walls. her wallpaper's nice though, because she wallpapers with fabrics and textures, not just print.

i can't wait till we see her tomorrow.

well... *shrug* if everything doesn't work out then we'll do everything on our own - buy our own furniture and hire a contractor for a feature wall + balcony tiles + painting.

---

you know, i really love the design style for australian houses. somehow they just have this rustic charm to them, with wicker furniture and beautiful white pieces of furniture. i love white furniture. mmm.

well, too bad about the choices available in singapore though. hmph.

back to the ikea catalogue!!

white furniture!!

navy walls and french windows. omgah!!

i think... i would love a colored room (and so would alvin)... with nice clean lines...

and white furniture with french accents! (?)

hmm. ok will ask the designer tomorrow. and alvin's mom.

ahhh that's the problem with too many ideas. *flops*

twitter's not for me

i'm sorry to all who've started following me on Twitter, but nah... i don't think i will use it much. it's just not practical for me, since i already have my blog (which i MUCH prefer to use) and msn.

maybe if i have a smart phone someday? maybe?

i feel so much better letting loose on this blog space with practically no word limit (as you can tell from my extremely lengthy food/travel posts), and i get constantly annoyed when i receive feeds that 'XXX's blog has been updated!' only to realize that... it's updated with a whole row of twitter one liners and links.

*yawn*

so save for alvin's blog (i have to! i'm still wanting to get hitched, u know?) most other blogs that are pretty much surviving on twitter updates will be dropped from my feeds list.

---

on a side note, this seems to be the season of confrontation and reconciliation. i might as well get everything out of the way.

i don't know, it seems as we grow older, some of us tend to behave more childishly (note: i did not say child-like). hey, me included of course.

hmm. time to make amends/say what i've kept in my heart because i felt that it was the nice christian thing to do.

i'm taking heart from the fact that the first one went really well! :)

ALVIN AND I HAD A MOVIE DATE YESTERDAY! JUST THE TWO OF US - which is rare, rare, rare.

we watched Up, it was really good, and all i could say after watching it was

'SQUIRREL!!!'

aileen's wedding

ah, i really hope aileen was blessed by our effort.

the church wedding went really well, other than few glitches here and there, like not making it for the JC shot, somehow being so busy that i couldn't even take pictures (my camera was untouched) nor talk to anyone for more than 5 minutes, and someone taller than me giving me the once-over (really, what's up with that?!).

after we wrapped things up at church, i had an hour to get home, get dressed and get made up before hitting the banquet place.

and yar! the post about the song i wanted to use all this while was 'come on eileen' by save ferris. I'M SO GLAD IT CAME TO FRUITION. haha! we simply decided to give aileen what she wanted, which was a dance down the aisle. :)

during aileen's rehearsal the idea was just suddenly birthed between dellia, chin ling, pamela and i. and despite feeling really tired because the week wasn't great for me, i got so hyped up about it that i unwittingly got really involved. i told chin that i'd find the right music for it while we cabbed home.

the next day on the way to work the next day, i knew things had to get a-movin'! i listened through my entire song list and when i hit save ferris i knew - THIS IS IT. i started to imagine how things could go, at which point can everyone start dancing down, counting beats of four, and whether the point when the couple started will it sound appropriate. by the time the train ride was over, the idea was complete and i excitedly emailed chin ling, then FB-ed everyone etc.

it turned out really fun for everyone, coz chin and chi wern used a pair of fans as props, while pam and roger, sara and melvin, jacq and weilun danced as a couple down. jeric led with his newspaper boy cap and suspenders, while joe and johnathan did their little jiggy. BUT THE ONES I AM MOST PROUD OF: ingrid and nel!! putting them together was great coz they did the can-can. hahaha! although the entire dance was completely mis-cued it turned out well because aileen and colin burst out from the room they were peeking from and had so much time to dance all the way to the stage. it was so impromptu! just seeing the exhilarated look on aileen's face was worth it.

i was on stage lip-synching and as i 'sang' 'come on eileen' i kept hooking my finger towards the couple to come towards the stage - i was trying to be sultry but i was so excited i think i looked a bit crazy!!

oh yes! the music suddenly started that's why we all gabrah la! i remember now. by the time we positioned ourselves we were at the 1st verse already. and alvin stayed up till 4am to edit the song (he cut out the front portion) AND IT WAS FLAWLESS. he let me listen to it in church and oh my goodness i was so amazed that i pounced on him and was absolutely speechless.

WOAH!!! *looks at alvin with renewed eyes*

and all the effort we put in for dressing up to the nines as emcees really paid off! alvin's scarf and hat really pulled off his shanghai mafia boss look, while i was in a cheongsam. i couldn't resist taking a potshot at jeric and saying that 'eh you look like you work as a shoe polisher next to alvin la hahaha!' GOOD THING HE CAN TAKE JOKES because he said, 'EH YAR! i have one photo of me polishing weilun's shoes already! want me to do one more??'

i hastily declined on alvin's behalf.

also, my entire table was incredibly fun; catching up with janani and lynette, laughing at nel making fun of junliang, watching joe get all caught in between them, and laughing at candice calling jiajie 'jiemei'. jacq was laughing so hard she hyperventilated!

i also thought ingrid was a wonderful bridesmaid, while pam and roger controlled the banquet really well as the programmers. and chin!! she helped so much for the extremely last minute plan to dance in. :D:D:D

i'm so excited! can't wait for the pictures to come out! please send me high resolution ones if you can? please? facebook ones cannot enlarge. :(

hehe, i can't wait for ONE particular photo. *rubs hands like a se peh peh*

over the top excitables

oh man! there's FINALLY an opportunity for me to do this song i've wanted to for so darn LONG.

i love how everything is so impromptu and last minute. we work best like that, i think. not too much preparation... takes away the creativity.

alright! time to ask my creative director for permission to set my elaborate plan in motion.

hehe. more details next week. :D:D:D

How NOT to Play With a Laser Pointer

oh man this made me laugh so hard i almost drooled on alvin after he quipped, 'schadenfreude is strong in you.'

gosh i'm still giggling.
