from a review of SATC
"In fact, it only seems to reinforce what I never liked about Sex and the City to begin with. They’re not flirty and single because it’s so hard to find a good man. It’s because they’re all completely self-obsessed, neurotic, high maintenance divas."
on my final outing over the long vesak day weekend, the cell went to JB!
on the way to Kranji, a face poked out from the other mrt carriage from which aileen and i was at.
'hey i recognize that pixie face! it's ingrid!'
yeah, we were all late. haha. while waiting for candice to arrive, we were all wondering what she would be wearing, coz we all dressed down deliberately so as to attract less attention.
then an Audi stops right at the curb of the bus-stop, and out steps candice in all her chiffon and tights, and handbag.
kau. all our attempts to try and look nondescript has been singlehandedly thrown to the ground and crushed by a Birkenstock slipper (in gold, no less).
...
anyways, we managed to hit JB in less than an hour? coz the checkpoints were pretty deserted and we had our fast-pass brand spanking new passports! *ZIP*ZIP* on to city square!
the walk there was HORRENDOUS. the sun was positively beating down on us and there was all that concrete and no shelter. candice and i sighed with relief in unison when we thought we'd turned into the air-conditioned corridor of city square...
only to groan when we realized we had another corridor to go. hahahaha.
once we hit city square, we had a schedule.
1. book ktv first 2. eat breakfast upstairs 3. find a good place for pedicures 4. go for KTV 5. go for pedicure
here're the pictures!
breakfast:
wah... too early on a public holiday... where's the sleep... :(
oh no! one woman down!
at KTV:
all the sad chinese songs are making aileen weepy.
ok, i can skip elaborating on the above activities, but this i CANNOT.
i proclaim: THIS IS MY FIRST EVER PEDICURE. I AM A PEDICURE/MANICURE NOOB. i just don't see the point of paying for pedi/mani-s in singapore coz it's so expensive! and the results are only for a week man, after that everything just gets raggedy. eeyur, waste money.
but apparently it's cheaper in JB (according to grid) and hey, i really don't mind some feet-care anytime.
being a noob, i was all wide-eyed wonder and asking SO MANY QUESTIONS (what's this? what's that? oh, oh! what's that for?? waaah, that's nice... OH OH OH etc) and when i whipped out my camera my pedicurist was really shy and giggly, which made two of us.
grid and candice just rolled their eyes and opened up their magazines while i kept peering into solutions, nail polish bottles, cam whoring, and being curious about EVERYTHING.
my pedicurist! i secretly took this picture coz she's so paiseh. hehehehe.
nail art!! XD
oh, oh these are toe separators. haha!
jolene, can you see what that colour is? and yeah we all opted for OPI! i'm mad about their colours now! :D
a close-up. :)
i wanna suck my toes, srsly. they look like candy.
my nail art!
ingrid's pedicure was done so fast, so she went ahead and did a manicure first.
candice and her dangerous tai-tai ways. muahahahahaha...
look! just look at that awesome ribbon!! it's like CAKE. *nom*nom*nom* (hmm, i must be hungry.)
heeh. heeh heeh. heeeeeeeeeeeeh.
even little girls come for manicures nowadays. her eyes nearly fell out of her head when she realized that the manicurist was going to cut her nails, hahahahaha she's so cute!!
'are my fingers done... MUMMY THE HEATER'S FALLING OFF MY LEGS HAAAAALP!!'
yeah i couldn't resist and decided to have a manicure done as well. i had to take this photo coz ingrid exclaimed 'OMG VIV YOUR FINGERS ARE SO CLEAN NOW!' wah thanks man. like i'm really so unladylike liddat. *pout*
but yeah those fingers are were gorgeous!
muahahahaha i love my mani!
check out ingrid, she's really tired already!
have u seen ingrid's jade hands? i think she'll make a great hand model. her nails are PERFECT.
as different as night and day.
i did it! i ate my prawns without destroying my nails!! (you should've seen my face full of prawn bits hahahahahaha)
ah, the crazy crowd coming back from Johor forced us to walk back to Singapore! boohoo...
alvin turns to me and asks: hey, what's that phrase they use to describe the red blood cell when it gets less flexible? 'less stretchable'?
me: um... um... OH IT AFFECTS THE RIGIDITY!
alvin: ah! thanks dear.
then there was a great big happy smile that landed between the two of us...
and it was a moment of immense love for one another coz i knew alvin was smiling and thinking: 'heh viv's so clever' and i was all 'oh yay i helped my man' :D:D:D
...
so he reached for me to pat me on the head and at the same time i leaned in towards him...
his arm...
my face...
*BISH*
AND THEN IT WAS VERY PAINFUL.
thank God for my soft nose or it'd be bleeding by now.
so alvin and i were all excited about taking leave on wednesday to celebrate our anniversary together. we'd planned to go to downtown east; we'll have food and entertainment at the new E-hub thingie, but the highlight of the day was
ESCAPE THEME PARK!!!!!!!!!
yeah we both haven't been there and we're have a common love for thrill rides (though we admit we're shit scared everytime we take a ride)... so why not?
this is us on the way to Escape... we were so excited man!!
and guess what?
ESCAPE WAS CLOSED.
oh trust me, i checked the website ok. it's so vague! they should just put there: ONLY OPEN ON PUBLIC HOLS AND SCHOOL HOLS.
wow, so many people who've been to Escape told me it sucks. i haven't even been there and i've already been burnt!
i was pretty bummed out. but dear, dear alvin was ever so positive and smiley so he squished away all my frownies by huggles!! XD
(ooh mushy moment. even i'm grossed out, but yeah i speak like that when i'm with him... sometimes only lar.)
anyways we know we can do nothing and still have a great time together, so our super kickass first anniversary date plan was dumped and we hit the theatres.
3 times.
haha, yeah we had the whole day to ourselves! what to do?
after 'what happens in las vegas' (i really hope u stayed till the end) we spotted a promo prop at some deserted corner.
so alvin and i became king and (manly) queen for a 'mo.
we had took a short break at Gelare (half priced waffles!!!) before catching the next movie...
... SPEED RACER!!!
i really liked it and so did alvin. it kept us at the edge of our seat!! *zoom zoom*
so when we left the theatre, we had all that adrenaline inside us which made us itch to do some crazy driving.
to the arcade we went, for some Daytona. and other random bishi-bashi/racing/shooting games; i love the motorbike one. other than the point where i had to climb onto the bike, i felt really seh most of the time. wahahahahahahaha.
we spent $20 in one hour. *faints*
the only 'theme park'-ish moment of the day... sigh.
dinner was at Fresh Bulgogi!
our final movie, 'over her dead body' was so ... ugh... bad...
AND, that concludes our huge date. which was still simple fun, nonetheless. it helped that the whole place was pretty empty, and because alvin was there!!! XD
omg this anime series had me wanting to laugh my head off on the commute to work this morning.
sheese, i had to laugh so bad, but i couldn't coz i'd end up shrieking (it's rush hour, the train was PACKED) so in the end i paused, curled up, hid my face in one hand and shook violently for about 2 minutes, pausing for a gasp of breath now and then.
gosh, so funnehhhhh.
i didn't dare look up to see the quizzical faces around (i'm sure at least one person standing in front of me though i'd gone off my rocker; i'll hide myself at one of the corner seats tomorrow on monday. heeheehee.)
everyone should watch it! you can find it on youtube! :D
Episode 1, Part 1/3
---
edit:
this was the episode that cracked me up big time, but don't watch it yet if you intend to watch the entire series, coz it's like a spoiler, i guess? then when you watch episode 8 it won't be so funny anymore. :(
watching vh1's 'i love the 90s' and it's makes me feel so...
poignant? wistful? ah, the right word has escaped me.
they played jennifer paige's 'crush', billie myers 'kiss the rain' (i love, love, love this song so! and so does alvin :D), eagle eye cherry's 'save tonight' (oh, seriously good stuff), cornershop's 'brimful of asha' (i used to hate this song, but i was squealing in recognition to the starting strums)
and then they had...
FATBOY SLIM'S 'ROCKAFELLA SKANK'!
omg this was the song that completed the playlist.
three songs that i truly loved (at that time), one song that i absolutely detested, and then the one song that defined my secondary school days.
it was sec 4; the teachers' day performance was coming right up and i really, really, wanted to dance (coz in sec 2 we didn't get through). then me and mel caught the teen-flick (no, they weren't called chick flicks yet) 'She's All That' and they had this dance-scene which was
JUST.
SO.
AWESOME.
did u see that?? it's so retro... BUT IT'S FATBOY SLIM!! and they're dancing in heels, and in friggin' prom dresses.
*slackened jaw*
ok of course by now i KNOW it can be done, but young impressionable me was floored. at that point in the movie, i just turned to mel and said, 'we've got to do this...'
eventually, my class had not one, but TWO dance groups performing for teacher's day, and our genres were different so we had a really, really great response from the crowd.
they did their korean dance moves which were so flawless i was shocked, coz the dancers were this really quiet group in my class. it was then i realized that the one true reason why they clicked was because of korean songs... WOW.
when it was our group's turn... *happy sigh*
here're the pictures:
we're all so hot with our baggy pants, yeahhh...
our ending move.
i don't have a video though. the one and only girl who video-ed the performance erased it coz i took so long to get the tape (yeah, TAPE) from her.
oh well. good stuff though... probably my fondest memory of sec 4. :D
---
edit: ok paula abdul's dancing now... hmm. time to sleep.
"i buy a lot of clothes online every month and i'm not ashamed to say that i'm an online shopaholic."
1. David and Goliath (just arrived today, YAY!!!!!)gosh these shirts are so CUTE, and the skirt i bought is so pretty (thank goodness i guessed my size right!)
2. forever21:oh i bought tons of stuff already, skinny jeans, vests, dresses... this time i got shorts! and hairbands! *glee*
3. let's not forget the dresses from bangkok:
4. la senza (ok no pictures... i have the membership card which entitles me to a discount but it can't beat the 3 for $39 bras man. SERIOUSLY.)
5. and most of all, TAIWAN AUCTIONS (incredibly cheap can????? one item is about $8 excl shipping):
yep. this is all i've bought in a MONTH.
online shopping is something i really enjoy, but i think i've got to cut down soon.it's fast becoming an addiction... though alvin and chuuling (who sit next to me at work and can see everything that goes on on my comp) would beg to differ.
thinking back, i don't think i've failed to buy something online at least twice a month. and mind you, i never just buy one item... i buy a few.
*sigh* i think i go crazy because the brands coming in from the US are so much cheaper!! and then the taiwan stuff are so cheap... but the quality can suck, so you have to be really careful. and the bangkok dresses are just so well marketed!!
boo-hoo, i can't stop. but i'd really rather shop online than go to bugis (WHERE YOU CAN'T TRY MOST OF THEIR STUFF ANYWAY GRRR).
