I AM GETTING STUFF FROM U.O.
urban outfitters doesn't send direct to singapore, so you will have to use either vpost or some other 3rd party postal service.
UO ships within USA free if your items total more than $150.
and right now, there's a coupon code - 'THINKSPRING' that gives you 20% off any purchase more than $50. it works on everything, even the sale items.
i have one batch of $150 (my own stuff) ready, so what i can do is to collate orders from you guys who want to try UO stuff. but if you prefer to ship on your own please go ahead. do note that the discount code will end on Valentine's Day.
if i had the means to revamp my wardrobe, OR if i could only buy clothes from one brand for the rest of my life... urban outfitters would dress me forever.
gosh i love their stuff.
and yes, this profusion of love is because i'd just received the second batch (it's quite a big batch) of items from UO. see, see! :DDDD
this skirt is soft and cool to the touch. quality = more than pass! a little thin, but would be great for the office. i would actually really love this, but i kinda remembered the print wrongly, so when i saw it upclose i was a little disappointed (it was different from my crazy imagination). oh well.
the loop wallet? not so much. feels a bit cheap and fragile... i think the fabric might tear after a while. or i will accidentally sit on it and warp the metal frame. :(
interestingly, it was this wallet that started off my $300 spree.
this dress is thick and heavy but not like a winter dress. it's just... smooth and heavy. and looks very nicely structured! i cannot wait to get home and try on everything. T_T
then maybe i can wear this to my cousin's wedding tomorrow. :D
plus, this is my (new) LBD! huzzah!
this mesh tunic looks great in my hands and feels great, but i really hope it doesn't have the same weird chest problem as seen above.
this will probably look good with a jacket. but it's thinner and less structured than it looks here. i may or may not keep it.
and here're my top 3!
this jumper is damn classy! i love how it's so relaxed and yet the linen feel makes it look so stylish and NEAT. pair it with a necklace and we're ready to go.
now... do i have a bag to match this... and shoes... *evil laughter*
this skirt would be my favorite if not for the final kickass sweater you'll see in a bit. the quality is beyond awesome; it has pockets and is heavy (so it will swing when you walk) but flouncy too. i don't know how to describe it but once i touched it and looked at its shape, i knew this skirt is the GOOD STUFF.
and also it has little galloping horses on it. WIN!!!!!!!!
ok seriously, if you don't think this is awesome... you're weird.
but yes i know , it's the wrong season, i have to wait one year before santa comes around again etc.
BUT WHO CARES! IT'S A GREAT SWEATER AND IT'S ON SALE! *grabby* i'd have a huge kick wearing this, for sure! everytime i see it i want to laugh.
----------
my first batch from UO was smaller, but shipping was... horrifyingly expensive thanks to the Where The Wild Things Are movie still.
they used a HUGE separate box for it... and it cost alvin $100? $200? on shipping alone. T_T that's more expensive than the still!!! *wails*
but anyway i will never make that mistake again. dear alvin absorbed the shipping bill too. T_T
i love you.
but okay here're the other things that came in.
their opaque tights are of the best quality i've ever encountered. thick, solid colors and FOOTED. but only the opaque tights though, coz the reviews for the rest of their other tights were quite shitty.
and of course almost everyone has seen this dress if you've been to any Jan 2010 wedding with me. hehe. it was pretty alright. fits well and covered my tummy semi-well. and so easy to wear! no frills! :D
the review culture in UO is really what makes me buy like nuts from them. i love it, love it, love it. how not to, when you can see comments from people who've already bought the item, and gives you heads up about color, fit, quality, and everything good and bad about the item?
i... think i wanna get more stuff. will put up a notice when the next sale on sale comes along.
btw, i did wait until there was a 25% off sale items before i went mad. :)
after mel's celebratory birthday dinner (indonesian food and kickass chendol!!!!) we headed down to the railway station to have some drinks.
that's when angel got all excited about my language apps (especially the french one) and hogged my phone for damn long. -_-
but i love my friends. :)
here's xinwei and david-the-aspiring-trick-rider-woah!
ok... that's all the photos i have. coz angel grabbity-grabbed my phone and tested her french with alvin (they had a lot of fun mangling the language).
shortly after the railway stint...
---
my goodness i just took off my shoes and MY. FEET. STINK. i'm imagining myself in the new place and being unable to take my shoes off and curl up in my chair. *sad*
on the other hand, alvin will be able to breathe again without sudden bouts of gagging. :D
---
... we decided to head down to xinwei's for a test drive on her new wii-fit - because she says it's f**king funny. really?
'yar yar especially the yoga and hula hoop one hahahaha YOU HAVE TO TRY.'
we get to xinwii's and created our characters. i'd have to say alvin's mii was the closest to him... then we checked out our wiifit age.
good grief i'm 37 (if i remember correctly). :(
but i have better posture among the rest! hah! also, alvin's character was unceremoniously given a paunch when they checked his BMI and found out he was overweight.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
yar it's exactly as you've imagined, a poof and voila! paunchy alvin. poor thing.
hehehe. heh heh. but his wiifit age is 23 okay! so young!
here's us having a go on yoga.
me first! i suck at it.
here's mel - her right foot is a-okay, but her left ankle (where she's torn her ligament before) was far from okay.
here's alvin on the hula-hoop challenge. it's really as xinwei says. *guffaws*
but he is really good on the yoga despite having his legs encassed in denim. so i can only show you two pictures, one on his right and one on his left because he didn't fall at all. wow.
best thing was that i got home at 2am. zzz. more of that sleepless weekend in a bit!
Green Day at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, 14th Jan
oh wow where do i begin?
they were rocking fantastic. i went home with a full blown neck ache (head banged a wee bit much, i'd say) and i had a huge stitch from jumping and yelling.
once i got home i turned on my computer and started chatting to edmund about the best moments in the concert. we didn't stop gushing till after one hour, and ONLY because i was falling asleep on my hands. but nonetheless still very excited - sleepy, but excitedddd.
and the amazing thing is how i felt so strongly about the concert when i
1. could not see squat. 2. was actually rocking out ALONE. all by myself. in the mosh pit. with strangers.
yeahhh... alvin and i got separated because he had to get alanna and wai (i'm not blaming you guys, iloveuiloveu *kiss*kiss*) which left me, greg, kevin and... his girl (we bonded... but i forget your name. -abashed-)
so no matter, i was still with my pals, right? and greg's fun! moreover when i turn back i can see the tip of alvin's hair so he's not that far away.
...
and then the mosh started. AND IT WASN'T EVEN GREEN DAY YET! it was just the opening act! wow, people.
by the time the crowd chilled out i was... eh? where's greg?
'hi viv!' he called from 2 heads away. i contemplated moving towards him but i was so close to the front... oh well. i stayed put.
dammit i should never do that again. DO NOT GO SO FAR TO THE FRONT UNLESS YOU ARE AT THE RAILING. because your supply of oxygen will get cut off. zzz.
a summary: green day burst out, i rode the wave for a while, lungs almost got crushed, dumb chick pulling my hair, i left. on the way out i actually bumped into greg and kevin and girl, waved, then the mosh came in again so i scooted out
which left me all alone in the mass of people. crap. now what. i don't have my handphone too. -_-
should've listened to alvin!!!!!!!!! *angry face*
for the first half i desperately scuttled about, trying to spot a head full of hair. i even borrowed someone's phone to try to contact alvin. by the time we reached boulevard of broken dreams (heh heh) i gave up and just told myself to have a good time.
and it wasn't that bad afterall! :)
but never again. ohhhh no. -_-
i'm telling myself right now that if green day comes again, there i will be. AGAIN. one more time please! :D:D:D
i'm ravenous right now... because i exercised in the morning!! *gasp*shock*
that's great news for someone who's stopped since falling on her ass (hence dividing her left butt cheek into two - it's permanent), and then having the worst cramps ever, AND falling horrendously sick (no thanks to two concerts, a night of wii fit, and a wedding which extended into supper and went on till 2am).
on a side note, elliptical cycling will do me in someday. *exhausted*
also! also! i've upgraded to Hard (drums) on rock baaaaaaaaaaand! i love how my feet are not weird with the bass pedal and how the drum sticks sit nice in my hands now - how awesome is that! :D
i want play more!
---
oh also! one more week here in NUS and i'm done! ;)
i love them so much... i'm digging their extremely personable service, their very pigmented colors, and it's so cheap for so much powder.
man... i can't get enough of SN. *happy sigh*
and they sent everything direct from USA so i got everything in less than a week, thanks to Alvin who paid for it through paypal. :D
i know there are people who don't use mineral makeup because they usually come in loose powder form, so it gets all messy and you have to buy brushes etc. but really, once you have the tools, mineral makeup is fantastic coz it's so SOFT. and have i mentioned the colors are gorgeous! mmm, pigmented...
I LOVE DOING MY EYES (when i have time)!
what started out as a 'i need to get more of that Climax blush' became a full blown 6 E/S, 1 blush and 2 blush samplers purchase. i forget how it happened. *whistles*
here's what came in! *glee*
Blushes -
Climax (full sized)
i had the sample before i decided to get this in full sized. it's actually a NARS Orgasm clone. i use Climax for glam days and Tart Light for cute days - tart's pink tone opposes my new black hair fabulously. Climax is very light though, so i need to layer it on over and over... but it builds up very well. hmm, i guess wearing Tart is being girly, while having Climax on is when i need to be a lady.
this is Tart light. and it's AWESOME.
Flare and Stellar (samples)
i saw them, and had to get them! Flare is for just for some coral pigment (i don't have any bright corals) experimentation. i got a bit of Stellar on my hand when i opened the jar to check its contents and some pigment fell out. i rubbed it and went WOAH STELLARRRRRRR. i'm horribly excited now. except i just found out the Killers aren't coming to Singapore anymore. tmd what Joy Ride? KILL JOY!!! :((((
...
...
anyways, here're my Eyeshadows:
Bon Voyage and Purrr (Stila Kitten Clone)
Vanilla
Taupetastic
Dove (i think this one will be interesting)
i was sent free samples of Bubbly (an E/S) and Precious (lip gloss). no swatches online so i'll try them at home and let you know! =)
once they strode onto the stage everyone stood up and the 2 rows in front of us cleared out to run to the front. there was no way we could get to a sweet spot right in front so alvin and i threw our bags into those recently cleared rows and climbed over. heh heh.
our view was right smack in the centre. good stuff.
the yeah yeah yeahs were, without a doubt, FANTASTIC. but the crowd? not so much. i'm looking at you, uncle standing right in front of karen O and just... standing there. -_-
i was initially pretty perplexed by the lifeless crowd - everyone seemed to be content just standing there and staring. no clapping, swinging of hips, raising of arms. did they not know the songs? or were they not getting the atmosphere? *scratches head* but okay, it got better halfway through the concert...
maybe everyone was equally mesmerized by karen O, who was like a huge butterfly on drugs... but with kick ass vocals. o_O
i danced almost all the way. jumped and crashed into alvin while he took precious videos for our leisurely viewing later. i know that's not easy dear! <3
Black Tongue/Pin/Dull Life
Heads Will Roll
Maps (acoustic, which was really nice)
Turn Into
and my absolute favorite, Date With the Night
the night was over too soon! :(
and interestingly enough, although i love the yyys for their frenzied tunes, it was the slower songs that really resounded in me long after we left...
NEXT UP, GREEN DAY!! that one's a comedy of errors. *shakes head*
so there i was trying to gather my girlfriends for a night with the Backstreet Boys, instead of having our annual CNY reunion.
then i had a brainwave, 'HEY! LET'S GO THERE WEARING OUR BAGGY PANTS!'
i was going to add low-slung bags and quiksilver shirts to the mix but i was quickly veto-ed with a, 'cham. my wardrobe all work clothes leh...' from angee.
